Batushka

BATUSHKA Premieres new song & video for “Pierwyj Czas”, CATTLE DECAPITATION Reveal Details of New Album, SCARED REICH Releases Brand New Single “Manifest Reality”.

Emerging from the shadows of eastern Poland back in 2015, black metal band Batushka have established themselves as one of the modern era’s most powerful and evocative bands. Harnessing the fire and fury of arcane black metal and channeling it through the reverberant grandeur of ancient rituals of worship, the band’s debut album Litourgiya stood apart from the extreme metal hordes: a monument to originality, depth and dark mysticism that swiftly cast its spell over the metal underground and beyond.

The band recently released its second album Hospodi through Metal Blade. Batushka have just unleashed the fifth track from the album. Check out Pierwyj Czas now!

Named after an Old Church Slavonic word for “God,” Hospodi enhances all the unique qualities that made the band such an instant phenomenon, while offering an entirely distinct and fresh sensory experience. The album boasts the most ferocious and bewitching songs the band has penned to date – along with a newfound sense of rock swagger.

“The whole album is a concept based on the Liturgy of Death, the prayers for the dead, and Orthodox funeral rites and dirges,” said the band. “It’s all about a ritual that involves the dead and the mourners. We also used a lot of old folk songs and elegies from our homeland. These are sung during the wake, around the casket, in the deceased person’s home. Nowadays only a few older people know them and still sing them accordingly in our region. We decided to cherish that tradition and I’m glad that with our album these songs and rites will survive.”

Cattle Decapitation - Death Atlas

On Black Friday 2019 (November 29th), Cattle Decapitation will release their long-awaited 9th studio album, Death Atlas, via Metal Blade Records.

Vocalist Travis Ryan comments: “We have crafted what we feel is our strongest album to date and we are really looking forward to bringing a couple of the tracks off of it to lacerate your eardrums on this upcoming Summer Slaughter Tour! Fans soon will witness the culmination of this last year’s blood, sweat and tears honed to a devastating, brutal and impactful audio document that I feel will resonate with fans of the last few records for years to come. Musically and lyrically, there is a lot of grief, anger, hate, passion and emotion poured into this one and we have found these can be excellent ingredients for extreme metal. We are once again rejuvenated and ready to spread the death and despair over this sphere that is perpetually being torn apart by us insignificants. There is no map to guide you out of this one – ‘Death Atlas’ is coming!”

Death Atlas was Produced by Dave Otero

Speaking on the track and its accompanying video, frontman and bassist Phil Rind says: “‘Manifest Reality’ is about overcoming mental obstacles and becoming the change we want to see in the world. No one is coming to save us. It’s up to us. The song is very positive and encouraging.

The video directed by the supremely talented Mark Pellington, shot by the incredible Ann Evelyn Lawford and talented corps of dancers choreographed by Nina McNeely presents a dichotomy. It shows the struggle we face day to day, moment to moment in overcoming the habits we have created that hold us back. The conflict between our best and worst instincts. Releasing grief and overcoming isolation. The yearning for something better.”
