Phoenix (AZ) Ned Flanders themed metalcore band OKILLY DOKILLY announce their first ever Australian tour with special guests, Melbourne doom-metal band DR. COLOSSUS.
The world’s only Nedal band is coming to Australia in February! OKILLY DOKILLY have announced ‘Australia 2020’ which will make its way down the East Coast, starting in Brisbane and finishing in Melbourne. The band will be supported nationally by Melbourne’s own Simpson’s themed Doom Rock band DR. COLOSSUS.
Okilly Dokilly’s Head Ned noted about the tour, “Myself and the other Neds are very excited to be playing in Australia for the first time. We’re extra excited to be playing these shows with the Simpsons-themed doom metal band, Dr. Colossus. They popped up on our radar very early on and we can’t think of a better band on the planet to play with. I think these shows are going to be a ton of fun. I’m also told that Australian circle pits swirl clockwise, so we’re excited to see that.”
Established in 2015, Phoenix, Arizona based “Nedal” band Okilly Dokilly found success before even playing their first show, reaching viral phenomenon status after releasing just a few press photos and a four-song demo. Within two weeks, the band netted nearly 30,000 Facebook fans and was featured by numerous publications including Billboard, Time, The Independent, BBC, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Vice and many more. In 2016, the band released their debut album, Howdilly Doodilly – a 13-track catalog filled with Flanderisms, rushing guitars and more than enough left-handed puns.
Okilly Dokilly released their second full-length album, entitled Howdilly Twodilly, on March 29, 2019. Just over a week later, Okilly Dokilly reached pinnacle Ned status when their “White Wine Spritzer” video, which has over 5.4 million views on YouTube, was featured on The Simpsons.
Having gigged alongside bands like Acid King, Brant Bjork, The Dwarves, Red Fang and NZ’s Beastwars; Dr. Colossus’ reputation as one of Melbourne’s most lighthearded heavyhitters is firmly in tact. Dr. Colossus gained worldwide attention after the release of single ‘Stupid Sexy Flanders’ in retaliation to Okilly Dokilly’s arrival on the scene. The track earned national radio play as well as a flood of coverage from radio & music media globally.
