Perth metal act All This Filth announce new album “Misery Season”, first single released

All This Filth

Western Australia’s finest purveyors of heavy and aggressive music – All This Filth, are set to release their second full length album “Misery Season” on March 29th via Rockpit Records.

To the uninitiated, All This Filth are a Metal band from Perth, Western Australia. They blend many different Metal and heavy sub genres including Groove Metal, Thrash, Hardcore, Death Metal, Industrial Metal and even hints of Sludge and Nu-Metal to create a unique blend of aggressive fury. Strongly influenced by bands such as Fear Factory, Chimaira and Sepultura, the essence of what metal really means is expressed sonically through the crushing riffs, solid drums and ballsy bass, while being dynamically shaped with electronic keys and audio samples.

All This Filth, or otherwise known as ATF spent much of 2018 writing and recording their sophomore album “Misery Season”. Recorded over several months from June – November 2018 the band pushed themselves to complete the momentous task and are ready to return to the stage to prepare everyone for what is to come! The new album has been announced in line with the band inking a management deal with Krunch Entertainment in conjunction with Rockpit Records for the new release.

According to frontman and main lyricist Brendan Preston, “Misery Season” is a step beyond and above anything ATF has done before. “It was a long and difficult process for both the recording and writing. It almost killed me personally (literally) and took its toll on everyone. The writing was spaced out over the last 5 or so years and spans two separate line ups of this band. Some of the songs such as “I Still Hate” and “Slave State” were written by a previous line up of the band. For the rest of the songs we had numerous members come and go which made the process that much more challenging. ”

The recording was done over 3 separate blocks in 2018 in June, September and November at Sumo Studios. Our producer Tristan worked us hard. He’s a bit of a perfectionist but that’s good in this case because he got really good results. At times it was fun but at times it was gruelling and almost broke us. So it was a bit of a mixed bag but at the end of the day it got good results. Would definitely work with Tristan again. He’s a good guy and knows his stuff. He got us to try some different things which really added to the album. So overall I’m really happy with the results.

On the inspiration behind the new songs and what the band set out to achieve with them in comparison to previous material, Brendan says it was therapeutic in many ways and hopes that fans will hear that in the songs. “I wanted to get what I was feeling in my head and my heart out of there and put it on to tape. I want the listener to feel me on every word and sentence. I want them to feel the music too and hopefully get some sort of catharsis from it.

My terrible mental state and the hard times I’ve been going through in my life lately was the main lyrical and thematic  inspiration for the album. The music had to match that. We aimed to write the most aggressive, depressing music we could basically because that’s how we’ve been feeling. Don’t get me wrong there’s a bit of hope in there as well. Like “I Still Hate”, but particularly the last song on the album “I Am The Fortress”. There’s something to be said about just surviving the hard times and never giving up. There has to be some kind of point to all the suffering. Be proud that you’re still here despite all the Misery. You’ve survived so far and no one can take that away from you. I want people to feel that. ”

On top of the new album announcement, the band have also released the first single “This Is Misery“. It’s a dark and brutal piece of work that builds up to a frenzied attack with drops of groove and thrashy attacks blended together to create the perfect album opener.

Single to be available on all major streaming platforms soon.

Speaking on the lead single, Brendan says it makes sense to have this track introduce the album and thus be the first track everyone hears before the album release. “This Is Misery” was written with the intention of being an album opener. Benny [Bones, keyboards, guitars, electronics] and I started writing the structure and the main parts of the song and eventually everyone chipped in their parts so it was a real team effort. Cam [Harris, bass] wrote the chorus and Mark [Honey, guitars} the leads etc. As the opener it needed to be an introduction to the world of Misery Season. It’s one of the most aggressive songs we’ve ever written, it’s fast, it’s got groove, it’s in your face and it just screams about all that makes me miserable basically. It just smacks you in the face and says, ‘Fuck I’m miserable and this is why’.

Misery Season” was recorded and produced by Tristan Sturmer at Sumo Studios, Perth, Western Australia and Mixed by Daniel Thabet at Liquid Studios in Vermont, USA with mastering handled by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York. Cover artwork to be revealed soon.

The album will be released on March 29th via Rockpit Records and will be available on CD, digital download and on all major streaming platforms. Pre-orders to be announced soon as well as more news.
