Sydney progressive metal quartet Red Sea have just released their new single, The One.

Following their epic, and acclaimed progressive metal single and video The Art of Transcending (TAOT) released in September 2018, the band have returned with The One. After the proggy creepiness of TAOT, the band have this time launched out of the gates with a heavy-hitting, sexy, melodic groove-fest in The One!

Produced and recorded by Clayton Segelov at The Brain Studios in Sydney, The One opens with the chunky, dirty bass riff that is the anchor of the song’s infectious groove. It then explodes into the layers of thick guitars, thundering drums and sultry, powerful vocals courtesy of frontwoman Erica Bowron. The verses are sultry and sexy and the chorus is heavy and catchy as hell. Once you get to the song’s breakdown you’re really getting into Red Sea territory with lyrics “Heart of fire, I would die for you. Here I stand, with blood-stained hands for you” – before exploding into a face-melting finish.

When asked about the meaning of The One, Bowron says, “It’s quite simply a love song. About finding that one person that knocks you off your feet. The second verse lyric “you terrify me and free me” describes that complete disarming that happens once you’ve meet your match.” The opening line of the song apparently references the exact moment when Bowron met her “one” at midnight in an airport near the Himalayas. The heavy, the groove, the sultry vocals all combine to one sexy and infectious song.

The Oneis the first single from Red Sea’s upcoming and long-awaited 5 track EP. The EP has been completed with Segeov at the helm and we can expect at least 2 more singles before the full EP is revealed in early 2020.

Red Sea burst onto the music landscape in 2016 with their debut EP Battlescar that was produced by the legendary triple Grammy nominated Rick Will (Fear Factory, NIN, Cold Chisel). After a lineup change they released 2 stand out singles with kickass videos in 2018 – Hurricaneand The Art of Transcending. With a sound likened to the love child of Evanescence, Pantera and Muse, Red Sea stand out among a…um…sea of sameness.

Red Sea have played the Sydney Opera House and in 2017 opened for Hungary’s biggest band Tankcsapda on their Australian tour.

During June and July, Red Sea will embark on a run of shows across the east coast in support of The One.
