In what has become a highly anticipated event for Australian music fans, Richard Clapton is excited to announce his yearly Sydney party, a show packed to the rafters with hit after hit. Aptly titled Past Hits & Previews, the evening showcases four decades of hits and will see the iconic performer revisit classics such as Deep Water, Capricorn Dancer and Girls On The Avenue to name a few, as well as giving audiences a sneak peek of new material from his forthcoming new album, slated for release late 2019.

Richard’s annual pilgrimage to the heart of Sydney for a special one night only show dedicated to showcasing the best of his career has become an unofficial highlight on the local music calendar. The show is always a sell-out, and attracts die-hard Richard Clapton fans, lovers of great Aussie music, those who are new appreciators and critics alike. All come together with the same ethos in mind – celebrating great music and creating unforgettable memories, something that is key to everything Richard Clapton has done throughout his career.

This year marks the 12th year that Richard has taken his special one-night-only show to Sydney. “Welcome to the party that never ends,” he says. “On the 28th June 2008, I played my first concert at The State Theatre in Sydney – OMG, has it been that long? Last year we decided to hold the annual concert at the Enmore Theatre, and the night was a resounding success. So, although we have moved a little further into the rock domain, this annual pilgrimage is still that special night of the year for you, for me and the band. For some time ow the band and I have been sneaking into the studio and working on a top-secret project, which will be a new album released in the coming months. We are calling it top-secret because we don’t want every other bastard stealing our idea! So, this year at the Enmore we are going to preview a few of these tracks for the first time. Are we gonna play Deep Water and Capricorn Dancer? Oh Duh! When have I ever not played those songs? So yes, there will be lots of classic songs in the set as well – I can’t want to see you all there.”

It is fair to say that Richard Clapton is an artist of legendary status. With an impressive back catalogue, Richard has captivated audiences for decades. He released his debut Prussian Blue in 1973 and has never looked back. His fourth studio album – Goodbye Tiger – is credited as being one of the first great Australian rock and roll albums and one that is a landmark in the evolution of Australian music. His music has created the soundtrack for generations, and continues to do so.

An ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee, Richard knew he wanted to be a musician from the time he was a teenager and in the ensuing 50 years nothing has changed – it is still about the music. His songs and live shows have taken him around the world – to London, Los Angeles, Paris and beyond – and he has earned the respect of his contemporaries on and off the stage. His songs speak for themselves as to why he is considered one of the country’s best songwriters.

Apart from writing classic rock songs, Richard also worked with other artists, producing for the likes of INXS. For a brief stint Richard joined The Party Boys – which resulted in an extensive Australian tour in the early 1980s – and joined the Countdown Spectacular touring concert celebrating the iconic television show. Regardless of any side projects, he has never stopped writing and releasing his own material. Fast forward to current day and Richard Clapton is still making music and still performing to packed houses – he is a true pioneer of the rock scene. With a career spanning more than four decades, he has a wealth of experiences, all of which are channeled into every performance.

Don’t miss this special one night only event as Richard Clapton celebrates four decades of hits, all his Past Hits & Previews, in a massive musical event. Tickets go on sale on 9am AEST on Monday 17th June 2019. An exclusive venue pre-sale will be available on Friday 14th June 2019.
