Sum 41 have dropped an anthemic new single and music video today with the release of “A Death In The Family.” Front man Deryck Whibley delivers a warning that all bad things must come to an end.
Through a balance of in your face riffs and a soaring chorus, lyrics like “Your lies will tear you apart…Your fate is left to a different generation. You know they won’t be kind” echo throughout the track. Fans can stream “A Death In The Family” today at smarturl.it/OrderInDecline
Today’s single comes from the legendary rock icons’ seventh full-length album, Order In Decline, due out July 19, 2019 via Hopeless Records. Looking back at the band’s storied 23+ year career, this record is undoubtedly Sum 41’s heaviest and most aggressive album to date, while also being their most dynamic and raw.
Armed with the most honest and personal songs of his career, Whibley poured everything he had into the upcoming album. Producing, engineering, and mixing the album in his home studio, he pain-stakingly crafted and fine-tuned each song, highlighted by fast and full riffs, guitar solos from lead guitarist/backing vocalist Dave Brownsound, harmonious chords from guitarist Tom Thacker and the heavy, heart-thumping rhythm section of bassist/backing vocalist Cone McCaslin and drummer Frank Zummo.
“A Death In The Family” joins previously released single “Out For Blood”, which hit #1 at Sirius XM Octane and #22 on the Active Rock Chart and has been streamed nearly 3 Million times on Spotify while the music video has been viewed over 2 Million times.
After over 15 million records sold worldwide, a Grammy Award nomination, 2 Juno Awards (7 nominations), a Kerrang! Award in 2002, as well as multiple Alternative Press Music Awards, Sum 41 is quite simply a rock band – uncompromising and honest with no intention of slowing down.
