In addition to his just announced shows with The Aints! Ed Kuepper will also take to the road for a series of regional dates as he starts preparing material for a new solo album.
“I’m hitting the road again this September and doing a pretty select number of solo shows. I’ll be debuting a swag of new material which will hopefully see light of day on my planned next solo album Electricity, the High Priest of all Security plus pulling apart some familiar and some not so familiar tunes from my past catalogue to see what makes it all tick… I’m looking forward to it. Hope to see you there.”
Former ARIA award winner, Saint, Laughing Clown and owner of some fifty plus albums bearing his name Ed Kuepper will take in first time appearances at Red Hill and Old Bar as well the less frequented Castlemaine, Bellingen, Katoomba and more. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
Meantime, The Aints! confirm June 14th as the release for 5-6-7-8-9 a limited edition five track mini-album and the follow up to last years acclaimed debut The Church of Simultaneous Existence. 5-6-7-8-9 features a single edit of album track Goodnight Ladies (see video) an acoustic version of Country Song in G plus a rerecorded version of the title track from Kuepper’s post-Saints band, Laughing Clowns. Let Ed tell the story…
“When The Saints finished Prehistoric Sounds in 1978, the band was without management and soon to be without label but I thought ”The Laughing Clowns” would make a strong new single to follow the album, combining both the more experimental slight avant jazz leanings of Prehistoric Sounds and the more straight ahead rock’n’roll of Eternally Yours. Of course The band split before this eventuated but I did end up using the song as the starting point for my next band Laughing Clowns who of course had their own take on it. The Aints! version is a bit closer to the original idea though unique as well”.
But wait! That’s not all; in addition to 5-6-7-8-9 The Aints! will also release a live album The Aints! Play The Saints (’73 – ‘78) recorded live at various venues in 2017-2018 and featuring the Saints classics Swing For the Crime, This Perfect Day, Know Your Product, Nights In Venice, River Deep Mountain High and more. Ten tracks in total and 45 minutes of high octane promo-punk / rock ’n’ roll goodness released June 14th in strictly limited editions of both vinyl and CD via the Fatal label – the home to The Saints original 1976 release (I’m) Stranded – and available at The Aints! shows only.
