Woodstock 50th anniversary tour

Travelrite International is offering an exciting tour of the U.S.A. to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock, led by three-time winner of ‘BBC’s Rock Brain of the Universe’ Glenn A. Baker. This unforgettable 19-day tour runs from August 7th to August 25th, 2019 and takes guests on a musical journey through San Francisco, Big Sur, Monterey, Los Angeles, Cleveland, New York, and of course Woodstock. For more information and ticket enquiries click here.

This is THE must do tour for those who want to travel back in time to the Summer of Love (1967-1969) as it takes guests to popular music destinations from this time, most notably Woodstock, which is where the most legendary music festival of all time was held and half a million flocked to. Music fans will join in to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this iconic event when it was held exactly 50 years earlier (15-18 Aug 1969). Stay tuned on 50th Anniversary announcements as they come to hand as there are several plans afoot involving one of the Founders of the actual event.

Guests will also visit music hotspots including Amoeba Music, Golden Gate Park where Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane performed, the entrance to Neverland Ranch which was built and owned by Michael Jackson, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio. Other top locations on this tour are the Strawberry Fields which memorialises John Lennon, the Brill Building where many major music companies were based, and the famous Chelsea Hotel in New York where Bob Dylan wrote some of his most important songs.

These immersive experiences continue into the night where guests will head to unique music venues such as Whisky A-Go-Go, the Troubadour Club, and Café Wha? which have hosted top musicians like Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, and Bruce Springsteen.

The trip includes intriguing sightseeing tours such as one in Los Angeles where guests will visit the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame, the Rock Walk outside the Guitar Centre, the Grammy Museum, and Morrison Hotel galley at the Sunset Marquis which was a hideaway for musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and Elton John. Guests will go on another incredible sightseeing tour in New York where they will view iconic spots such as the Empire State Building, Wall Street, the Rockefeller Centre, and Times Square.

Leading the tour is our very own music guru Glenn A. Baker who was once described by Phil Collins as “the most thorough and knowledgeable music journalist in the world today”. Glenn is an author of 17 books, a nationally syndicated radio and television presenter, top songwriter, and was even awarded an Order of Australia by the Governor General last year. Glenn is the perfect guide for this trip since he has led tour groups to Beatle Week in Liverpool, England and to key music sites in southern USA.

Rock Brain of the Universe Glenn A Baker said “Last year I led a crew of Australian music fans into the crucible of American music, out of New Orleans and up the Mississippi River to the Southern cities where all that we have come to embrace in rock music originated. But this year, the ONLY place to be will be in top half of the United States where we will be able to commemorate the Summer Of Love, which burst out of San Francisco in 1967 and illuminated American popular culture through the remainder of the decade, culminating in the extraordinary Woodstock Festival in upstate New York. We’ll be treading in the footsteps of so very many rock legends and pivotal events.”

The price of the tour twin-share starts at $10950 per person including air fares, accommodation, sightseeing tours as listed on the itinerary, and a Broadway show in New York.
