ALBUM REVIEW: Lovekillers feat. Tony Harnell – Lovekillers

Frontiers Music s.r.l. - December 6th 2019

Lovekillers featuring Tony Harnell

Everyone of course knows Mr. Tony Harnell from his days with TNT but it seems now that those days are over for  good with the latest fall out between Tony and guitarist Ronni LeTekro seeming final. And whilst that must be a huge blow to fans, this album is a real reminder (as if we needed one) of the soaring vocals and Melodic Hard Rock sound of the 80’s era TNT albums.

Lovekillers is the album that Tony Harnell’s legion of fans will love. This is also an album that lovers of fine Melodic Hard Rock will love too. And when you listen to tracks like the solid hard rockers- ‘Alive Again’, ‘Higher Again’, and ‘Now Or Never’ you know that the combination of Harnell and Del Vecchio as chief writers is one that seemingly has produced some instant chemistry, though there are some great contributions also from writers like Nigel Bailey, Pete Alpenborg, Marco Sivo, and Jonas Hornqvist.

Elsewhere ‘Ball and Chain’ and ‘Alive Again’ see Tony fight some impressive guitar for prominence – these are the heaviest here. Then there’s the majestic AOR of ‘Across The Oceans’ and ‘Bring Me Back’ and lighter still the sweeping ballad ‘Set Me Free’ which closes and may even be in contention for the best here.

With songs like these and Mr. Harnell in the drivers seat you can’t go wrong. One of the best of 2019.

Line-up: Tony Harnell – Vocals | Gianluca Ferro – Guitars | Alessandro Del Vecchio – Bass, keyboards |Edo Sala – Drums
