EP REVIEW: The Weapons of Anew 2019 Tour Special EP

Self-Released - December 13th 2019

New Jersey-based melodic metallists Weapons of Anew have a  new EP out  cunningly titled the  ‘2019 Tour Special EP.’  Recorded live on July 30th, 2019 from the Palace Theatre in Greensburg, PA, the five-track release features vocalist Ray West, guitarist Freddy Ordine, drummer Chris Manfre and bassist Stephan Reno Cutrupi. Mixed by producer, engineer, mixer Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin, Warren Haynes) it’s a real treat for fans.

Recorded as a special ‘thank you’ to fans who have been with the band from the start its also a great way to introduce everyone to the bands live sound. There’s also the added bonus of an ‘unplugged’ rendition of the song ‘Moment’.

If you haven’t checked out the band as yet, be sure to grab a hold of their debut long-player ‘The Collision of Love and Hate’ released back in 2017 and see how those songs translate live – you’ll be mightily impressed by the power and the immediacy of ‘Killshot;’ the harmonies and bluesy notes of ‘Sundown’ as well as the high-point for me ‘Speed’ a modern rock lover’s dream.

The big song and the focus here of course is ‘Moment’ (or This Moment as I recall it was credited on the album) its a song that starts out with ethereal vocals and delicate guitar before the song takes on some real depth to end up a rather fine Metal ballad well worthy of the acoustic treatment too. You’ll love it.

WOA will be opening for Metal Allegiance on January 16, 2020, at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. A new album will follow in 2020.
