Finnish rock band Blind Channel are back with a brand new single ‘Gun’ on 3 rd July via the Ranka Kustannus label. The single is taken from their 3rd album ‘Violent Pop’ and has been produced by Jonas Olsson. The track has been mixed by the man behind the biggest Volbeat hits and the Amaranthe sound, Danish sound wizard Jacob Hansen.
“Gun is a song about using music as our weapon. We write songs to cope with dark times and to get back at our critics. When we wrote ‘Gun’ we decided we wouldn’t hold back our words anymore. It’s all point-and-shoot from now on.” BLIND CHANNEL
Blind Channel are known for their heavy rock sound peppered with fresh pop elements. Their dual vocals and electrifying energy makes them a stadium band of the future, such is their mass market appeal.
The band consist of Niko Vilhelm (vocals), Joel Hokka (vocals, guitars) Joonas Porko (guitars, backing vocals), Olli Matela (bass) and Tommi Lalli (drums). The collective are inspired by the likes of Enter Shikari, 30 Seconds to Mars and the early works of Linkin Park.
Since their first live appearance in 2013 in their hometown of Oulu Blind Channel came out with a bang, winning two big band competitions and impressing audiences around Europe with their hyperactive live show. The band subsequently signed a recording deal with Ranka Publishing.
The band have now performed hundreds of headline shows, as well as securing new fans on successful European tours with bands like Hollywood Undead, Simple Plan, Amaranthe, Sevendust, All That Remains and the bands’ heroes – Enter Shikari. They have also performed at many festivals that include Wacken Open Air, Sziget Festival and Weekend Festival.
Blind Channel has already been dubbed one of the most promising Finnish music exports. Finland’s biggest and most influential radio station YleX, who have been strong supporters since the start, call them “the hungriest band in Finland”. Last year the band’s second album, ‘Blood Brothers’, was nominated for the Emma Award (the equivalent of a Finnish Grammy) in the Rock Album of the Year category. This cemented their place at the front of the new Finnish rock invasion.
