Metal Blade Records News: Anaal Nathrakh, Six Feet Under, Lik & The Metal Blade Live Series

Six Feet Under

ANAAL NATHRAKH Launch Lyric Video For New Single, “The Age of Starlight Ends”, ALLEGAEON’S RILEY McSHANE Joins weekly “Metal Blade Live Series” as host, SIX FEET UNDER Launch lyric video for new single “Amputator”, LIK Launch video for new single, “Funeral Anthem”.

On October 2, Six Feet Under will release their seventeenth full-length, Nightmares Of The Decomposed, via Metal Blade Records.

For a preview of Nightmares Of The Decomposed, a lyric video for the first single, “Amputator”, can be viewed at: metalblade.com/sixfeetunder where the record can also be pre-ordered.

Comprised of twelve tracks, Nightmares Of The Decomposed is a defining statement, making it very clear that more than twenty-five years into their career, Six Feet Under remain at the forefront of the genre. Dynamic, heavy as hell, catchy, and uncompromising, it is everything that the band’s longtime faithful have come to expect from the deadly unit, and is clearly the product of a lot of hard work by vocalist Chris Barnes, guitarists Jack Owen and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell and drummer Marco Pitruzzella.

Tracked at various studios including Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida, which over the years has played host to the likes of AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Aerosmith amongst others, it was produced, engineered and mixed by Chris Carroll, who has given it a full and chunky feel. The album’s mastering was handled by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado. The finished product comes packaged in artwork by Luke Hunter and is packed with songs that will sound great live, and will sit comfortably alongside the classics already filling out their set lists, helping to drive the band ever closer to their fourth decade of existence.

Chris Barnes (vocals) comments: “Working again after 25 years writing an album with my old band mate from Cannibal Corpse, Jack Owen, was like coming home…To a room full of dead bodies. Jack’s writing and riff work on this album gave me the fuel to write some disturbing lyrics and really set my creative mind on fire.

Anaal Nathrakh - Endarkenment

On October 2, Anaal Nathrakh will release their 11th full-length, Endarkenment, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the album, a lyric video for the new single, “The Age of Starlight Ends”, can be seen HERE. The video was created by Metal Blade Records’ Vince Edwards, based on his interpretation of the lyrics (and approved by the band on that basis).

The previous single, “Endarkenment”, can be streamed at: metalblade.com/anaalnathrakh where the record can also be pre-ordered.

Extremity has been Anaal Nathrakh’s stock in trade for more than two decades, and with Endarkenment, they maintain their legacy of aural devastation. However, for all the furor they stir up, the duo have never been a two-dimensional entity, with a great deal of depth involved in everything that they do, and on many levels the new record is distinguished from its predecessors.

“I think in terms of feel, it’s brighter, more open and direct than maybe we’ve been in the past,” states vocalist Dave Hunt. “Obviously I don’t mean it’s happy-go-lucky sounding, or suggestive of a sunny disposition. I mean something more like it burns with light rather than glowers with darkness. It’s coruscating.” The evolution since 2018’s towering A New Kind Of Horror has been personal and profound, and is very much in line with that experienced by many of their listeners. “Personally, I feel more cynical, more bitter, with a greater sense that the world is fucked, and is continually re-fucked by people who have no idea what they are doing. Musically, I think we’re more mature – not less frenetic, but better able to channel our energies where they’ll be most effective. That’s an ongoing process, you never finish growing into what you’re doing and being better able to push at the edges of what you can do. But we aren’t interested in evolving what we do, only how we do it. We remain unlike the vast majority of other bands in our sound, and we’re proud of what we do.”

Riley Mcshane - Allegaeon

Currently in writing mode for Allegaeon‘s upcoming album, working remotely on new material with his bandmates, Riley McShane (vocals) has also launched several new projects within the last few months – most recently, teaming up with video game industry veteran Steven Sawyer to create an independent video game publishing company: Proponent Games. Dedicated to helping creative indie developers to bring their budding titles to market, Proponent Games has already announced the first two titles of its inaugural catalogue, partnering with developer Blasted Realm (https://blastedrealm.com/) on its upcoming hack-and-slash fantasy title Rise of the Betrayer, plus developer Summitsphere on its Breakout-inspired Antonball Deluxe.

Riley McShane (Proponent Games, CEO) comments: “Proponent Games was born out of the simple desire to get more good games out into the ether and has now manifested into a reality where we can give talented, independent developers the platform and opportunity to put their passions on display and connect to the world through their games.”

Together with Steve Sawyer (Proponent Games, President), the two co-founders plan to release Rise of the Betrayer and Antonball Deluxe in 2021, with further titles to come. For more information about Proponent Games, please visit:  proponentgames.com

Lik - Misanthropic Breed

On September 25th, Stockholm’s Lik will unleash their third full-length, Misanthropic Breed, via Metal Blade Records.

For a preview of Misanthropic Breed, the video for the new single, “Funeral Anthem”, can be viewed HERE.

This clip was filmed during the album’s recording session in March/April 2020 by Lik and Lawrence Mackrory, plus edited by the band’s own Joakim Antman.

Sweden has long been held in high regard as one of the hotbeds of global death metal. With Misanthropic Breed – produced, mixed and mastered by Lawrence Mackrory (Obey Mastering) – Lik only add fuel to this fire. “The title of the record is ‘Misanthropic Breed’, because it describes the world today and the generations that are emerging,” states vocalist/guitarist Tomas Åkvik. “In a way, it’s more applicable than ever with the quote ‘It’s every man for himself’ being so suitable, and it’s also a ‘hidden’ homage to both Dismember and Entombed.”
