Misha Mansoor, founding member of Periphery and one of rock’s most esteemed guitar players, is slated to release a ten-album collection, documenting his pre-Periphery solo project BULB.
BULB came about when Mansoor started sharing his home recordings, which he’d uploaded to the early streaming site SoundClick under the moniker. After watching these songs circulate at random for years on the Internet, Mansoor finally decided to reclaim his past.
“Diving back into the BULD archives I something that I’ve wanted to do for years”, explained Mansoor about the decision to release his pre-Periphery recordings. “As I began working on what will be a new BULB album I was reminded of this vast library of unreleased music, music that has only been previously available by seeking out bits and pieces on various forums and media channels. Presenting it n a context that both echoes my original intent with the songs grouped from the time period they were recorded in as well as making it easier for fans to fin and enjoy was the driving motivation behind completing this massive undertaking”
Today, via Periphery’s 3DOT Recordings, Mansoor releases ‘Bulb Archives: Volume 8’, the first of 10 volumes collecting roughly 110 songs. With a new set arriving every two weeks, the project marks the first time all of this myriad music has been available officially, in one place, and through current, popular streaming platforms. Mansoor is relieved to finally present the package on his own terms.
