Record Players – experience music the way it was intended

Why I Still Play Records

Modern music can be accessed in a way unlike ever before. But while I enjoy putting on Spotify with my phone and I’ll still rock out my (apparently outdated) iPod touch now and then, there is one type of “old school” way to access music that I will never tire of using: record players. Record players have made a huge come back in recent years, especially thanks to sites where you can easily buy equipment and vinyls, where I found just this at rockitrecordplayers.com.au, which is where I get most of my music. The following are the most important reasons why I personally still play records—and think that everyone else should give them a try, too.

They’re collectible but still affordable

Records aren’t just practical: they’re collectible, too! Unlike other collection items, though, records aren’t going to drain your bank account. They’re an affordable collectible hobby that just about anyone can get into, as long as you know where to shop.

They provide a tactile musical experience

When you use a record player to play your records, you are creating a tactile musical experience unlike any other. There is no equivalent for a player that actually plays music in the way that a record player does. The music is being physically played right from the disc, which cannot be replicated through any other type of modern music player.

The sound is unique and can’t be replicated with digital mp3s

When you think about the sound a record player makes, what comes to mind? Probably the unique crackles, pops, and that thin under layer of the vinyl being played by a record player needle. This sound can never be replicated with digital music like mp3s or even CDs. Although some mp3s claim to have a “record style sound,” you can easily tell the difference between a digital “record” sound and the sound made by a real player.

They make me feel nostalgic

Truthfully, record players make me feel a happy, wistful nostalgia that I don’t get from other types of “nostalgic” throw backs. There is something about putting on a record player and chilling on the bed or cleaning the house or just dancing around that brings me back to a different time. And you don’t even have to grow up with records to catch this feeling, as I’ve seen plenty of younger record enthusiasts report that they feel nostalgic too!

They have a full sound that is perfect for listening at home

The sound created by phone speakers or even traditional earbuds/headphones can’t compare to the full sound created by a record player. When you want to truly listen to your music at home, you need something that’s going to reverberate throughout the room and let you truly hear it as it was meant to be heard.

If you are looking for a unique musical experience that will tune you into a completely different way to experience music, start shopping around for a decent record player and some vinyls of your favourite tunes as soon as possible. You won’t regret it!
