Social Animals have released a new single Get Over It via Rise Records.
Get Over It is a catchy break-up anthem capturing both the essence of the moment it all ends, to the moment one begins to see past the numbing pain of absence and heartache.
The song, beside Dedric’s now-unmistakable vocals, opens with a humming baseline, flourishing into a thumping beat suited to the stature of venues played by arena acts – already far beyond the band’s short tenure together.
“Missing someone can be addicting. Either you learn to live with that loneliness or you try to find a way to get over it. In this song, like scratching an itch until it bleeds just to find relief in a different type of ache, it’s trading one addiction for another. Even the comedown is a part of the hook, because it allows you to focus on that physical pain instead of the one that actually matters” – Dedric Clark (vocals, guitar)
The band recently announced a limited edition 7” vinyl release, out 20th March, which features new track Get Over It as well as previous singles Best Years and Bad Things.
Shortly after announcing their signing to Rise Records in November and releasing their label debut Bad Things – which CLASH called “intoxicating” while featuring it as their Track Of The Day – Social Animals hit the road as direct support to label-mates Angels & Airwaves. Last month, the band released follow-up single Best Years – along with a stunning music video – to glowing coverage from Billboard, Dork, Upset Magazine, The Current and more. In this short amount of time the band’s nostalgic-yet-refreshing sonic landscape has also yielded airplay from SiriusXM’s Alt Nation in the US and Triple J in Australia, setting the tone for what’s to come throughout the rest of the year.
The band are currently on a three-week UK and European tour supporting Ash, which kicked off in Paris on 21st Feb and wraps in London on 27th March at the Roundhouse.
