Industrial metal outfit Our Last Enemy have dropped another track from their long-awaited as yet untitled new release.
The Holy Ones is the next single following Never Coming Back, which made waves back in March as the first new music in 6 years to be released by the band. Never Coming Back garnered rave reviews, radio play on Triple J and Triple M and 10K+ views on their intense film clip putting the band well and truly back on the map.
Blending the more melancholy elements of NiN with the raw off-kilter intensity of The Dillinger Escape Plan, the layered new track shows off the ‘light and dark’ textures the band are capable of. A powerhouse of dynamics blending ethereal wanderings and brutal impacts which reflects the songs lyrical musing on the ebb and flow of time and nature, that all things came to pass and yet will be again. A timely reminder in the current climate.
The band comments: ‘‘Whether it be a boom or bust, a tyrant or a saviour, when we let go of all the baggage the truth remains the same – this has been and will be again.’
‘Musically this song shows off two sides of Our Last Enemy – Our maturing ability to write sombre, poignant tunes, while at the same time wanting to show everyone that we can still melt faces’.
The video (shot and edited in isolation by the band) is a metaphor for how everyone in isolation is glued to their screens watching the weirdest and most horrible things they can find online because they just need to stimulate themselves one way or another.
The band’s as-yet-untitled new release has been produced by the band and mixed by ARIA-nominated producer D.W. Norton (Superheist, Alchemist, Sydonia, Frankenbok, Frenzal Rhomb, Mindsnare).
The band have also tapped legendary skinsman John Sankey (Fear Factory, Divine Heresy, Devil You Know, Devolved) to play drums on the record.
