The Angels – comprised of founding members John and Rick Brewster, singer Dave Gleeson, drummer Nick Norton, and John’s son, Sam, on bass – return in 2020 with the release today of Darkroom Recharged. It is a new version of their classic album Darkroom, completely re-recorded with Dave Gleeson on vocals. This “recharged” double version also features the full record as a live album, recorded at the Bridge Hotel in Sydney. Fans will be familiar with the concept, this new release following on from Face to Face Recharged and No Exit Recharged.
The album release will be followed in 2021 by the Darkroom Recharged Tour, a four to the floor rock show in the great tradition of Aussie pubs and clubs. It will run from April 30, kicking off at Sydney’s Bridge Hotel, before taking in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, then winding up at Sydney’s Juniors on June 18 and the Doylo, in Doyalson, NSW on June 19.
Rick Brewster said, “We are very excited to have re-recorded Darkroom with Dave Gleeson, Sam and Nick, and to release it today. Darkroom has always been a very special album for us, marking the time when we left Alberts and toured America and Europe. It completes the Face to Face/No Exit/Darkroom Trilogy, recorded both in the Studio and Live, with bonus tracks and the occasional change from the original recordings. And we’re finally taking it out on tour in 2021. Can’t wait to change the rusty strings, shake off the Cabin Fever and hit the road again!”
