Riff Raiders have dropped a brand new video for the track ‘Stepping On A Cloud’ which makes its premiere right here at The Rockpit!
The track is taken from the band’s critically acclaimed album ‘Rock’n’Roll Daydream’ that’s been winning hearts across the globe since its release earlier this year. The album scored a perfect 10 review in the UK’s Powerplay Rock and Metal Magazine and Maximum Volume Music UK wrote “This is brilliant. And it is brilliant entirely on its own terms. Classic rock champions, their press release called them. Surely then, they are Raiders of a lost art, if you’ll forgive the pun.”
Stepping on a Cloud features the vocal debut of Raiders’ lead guitarist and songwriter Marty Powell – the video includes footage of Powell jumping out of a perfectly good plane at SKYSOUNDS – RAMBLERS EQUINOX BOOGIE in Toogoolawah, Queensland. The Melbourne band headlined the festival in 2018 with festival organisers hooking up the band and crew to all pop their skydiving cherry before hitting the stage and the seeds of this song were planted in Marty’s soul. “If we didn’t jump, we would’ve been the only people there that had never done so it, so we did it – and loved it!”
Pulse Alternative Magazine (UK) describe the track “Like the heaven’s opening ‘Stepping on a Cloud’ is akin to The Beatles jamming with the aforementioned Cheap Trick for a swirling psych fest.” Yep.
‘Stepping On A Cloud’ follows videos for the double-A side single ‘Best Day Ever / Loaded Gun’ (Rue Morgue Records), second single ‘Samantha Jones’ and new gig anthem ‘Standing on my Own’, a worthy cousin to their signature live tunes ‘Live Like You Mean It’ and ‘A Million Miles Away’ from their debut album – well worth checking out.
The Rockpit also has word that a bonus track from the Rock’n’Roll Daydream sessions is set for release on Rue Morgue Records “Murders in the Rue Morgue Vol II” compilation in early 2021. Pre orders for this exclusive vinyl release are available here, the album is also set to feature previously unreleased tracks from Warbirds, Cicadastone, Karly Jewell, Roadkill, Fight The Sun, 29 Bones, Sonic Circus, 74 Kings and more.
“Riff Raiders spread some much-needed joy with this album during these testing times and it will surely be one of the front runners of Australian rock releases for 2020.” – The Rockpit. Full review can be read HERE.
