Following the cancellation of their Covid-beleaguered national tour, Ed Kuepper and Jim White are pleased to announce the exclusive premiere of a concert film of one of their triumphant shows at the Sydney Opera House. Recorded live in The Studio at Sydney Opera House in June 2021, this  spectacular performance film by Sydney film-makers Subversus will stream at 7.30pm AEDT on October 15. Pre-sales available now

Kuepper announced on Facebook this morning, “Hi all, as you’ll be aware the Ed Kuepper with Jim White 2021 tour was severely interrupted and then eventually canned completely when it proved impossible to keep rearranging dates. What you may not know is that we did manage to play two sold out shows at the Sydney Opera House back in June and…wait for it… the second of these shows was recorded and filmed in hi-q video and audio… So, I’m very happy to announce that we’re doing a special one off live stream of this show on Saturday Oct 15th (AEDT) to give everyone that didn’t make it to the truncated tour a taste of what we were on about….next best thing to being there.”

“I like how Ed Kuepper – like Lou Reed or Bob Dylan – doesn’t want to replay the hits as was and at the same time doesn’t pretend to not have a past nor a future.” – Jim White

“Jim is one of the finest drummers I’ve seen and heard anywhere, totally gets inside of whatever he’s playing in an unpredictable and exciting way, been wanting to work with him for a long while’’ – Ed Kuepper
“Two week quarantine in Sydney ends tonight! Eva and I celebrating by going to hear Ed Kuepper and Jim White at a little place called the Sydney Opera House! Psyched because rock n roll is forever baby!!!!!” – Thurston Moore

In this exclusive premiere the co-founder of The Saints, Ed Kuepper, and captivating interpretive drummer, Jim White, of the renowned instrumentalists Dirty Three, make their collaborative debut as they tackle 45 years’ worth of Kuepper’s catalogue with a twist that only these two game changers could apply.

Exploding on the scene with The Saints, Ed Kuepper is the chief architect of the uncompromising Laughing Clowns and The Aints! and a master songsmith with over 15 solo albums. No stranger to the stages of Sydney Opera House, Jim White is a Vivid LIVE alumni and brilliant drummer of “one of the world’s greatest living bands” Dirty Three, as well the partner in the genre-defying Xylouris White.

The concert film was created by Subversus. The film sheds new light on live performance by mixing hypnotic, cinematically shot concert footage with intimate behind-the-scenes vision. The result is a visceral snapshot of two Australian legends as never seen before.

Join two of Australia’s most accomplished artists for a special performance captured live in the Studio as they showcase their masterful musicianship in all its glory.
