MIND WARP PAVILION are back for their sixth year and this time it’s at Freo Social on Saturday 8 January from 8pm! Featuring a host of Perth’s finest musicians playing the iconic tunes from The Starman himself, Mind Warp Pavilion have managed to capture the magic of Bowie at each of the previous events and The Rockpit can vouch for that having reviewed a few of these nostalgic magical evening. Here are the cats who’ll be laying down some rock’n’roll… making the transformation as rock and roll stars as they jump up onto the Freo Social stage to celebrate this creature fair.
“This year’s show is coming together really well.” says the show’s music director, Greg Dear. “The feature set of the night will be a performance of the entire Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars album, given that 2022 is the 50th anniversary. Will this be the start of a trend (Aladdin Sane in 2023, Diamond Dogs in 2024)? Maybe…time will tell (he’s waiting in the wings). As in every previous year, there are a bunch of new faces on stage for this show, and some familiar ones returning. We have a nice mix of acoustic acts and electronica acts, as well as the two main bands. The final set of the night will be a compilation of hits and favourites, for those who didn’t wear themselves out dancing to the Ziggy album.”
So, get into some hazy cosmic jive and have your minds blown – you know it’s all worthwhile. It’s alright, the band is all together, the songs will go on forever. It’ll be awful nice, really quite out of sight and we’ll sing all night long. You’d better hang onto yourself, this is gonna be huge!
