The scent of spring is in the air and with it comes a hint of good times to come. Among them is WA’s favourite springtime musical escape, Blues at Bridgetown, which in 2022 celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
It gives us great pleasure to announce the second round of artists bringing their goodness for a weekend’s worth of amazing music from Friday-Sunday, November 11-13.
New York City’s most beloved blues bashers Daddy Long Legs have been huffing and puffing and blowing houses down on a nightly basis during their infinite world tour and always bring an elevated level of rough and ready intensity to contemporary lo-fi blues with their explosive fire ceremony! While influenced by the likes of Son House, Captain Beefheart, Howlin’ Wolf, MC5, and Dr. Feelgood, Daddy Long Legs’ sound personifies garage rock and punk with a contemporary raw twist performed in their own brand of supercharged R&B.
An infectious riff and groove based blue-billy-grass-rockin’-roots band, 19-Twenty have been performing their high-energy sonic-party nationally, headlining sell-out shows and festivals in all states and territories. Constantly on the road or in the sky, they have toured seven times around Australia and played gigs throughout Europe. Performing anywhere and everywhere, these Blues at Bridgetown faves have been blazing throughout Europe and Australia and gaining new music fans/friends from their live shows.
Like 19-Twenty, Blue Shaddy are returning heroes to Blues at Bridgetown. This band are part of the fabric of this festival and clearly have a place in the heart of the Bridgetown massive. Always a festival highlight, we’re delighted to have Jim, Sandy, Belly and Dean back on our stages.
High-energy duo Hat Fitz & Cara are among Australia and Ireland’s most talented roots music artists. Combining their cultural backgrounds, this dynamic power force showcases Fitzy’s weathered vocals and soaring blues-soaked guitar with Cara’s pounding drums and soulful voice to create, what they call, Convict Rhythm N’ Roots. This must-see pair have an electric connection that is shared in both their music and banter on stage.
Journeyman troubadour Carus Thompson has just released his eighth studio album, Neon Folk, and will come to Blues at Bridgetown fresh from a national tour. Produced by long-time friend and WA musical treasure Nathan Gaunt, Neon Folk was recorded in Perth between the border closures, lockdowns and mayhem of 2020-21. Thompson was living in Melbourne throughout that time and found himself separated from his family for over six months. This tumultuous time has produced a wonderful record and themes of determination, hope and surprisingly, positivity run throughout.
Also coming along for the ride will be Boom! Bap! Pow!, Mike Elrington, Helen Townsend & The Wayward Hearts, Moondog Trio, Brandie & Wise, Natural Boogie, Martin Lee Cropper, Mossy Fogg, Redcliffe, Blackwood Rising, Mary Myfanwy and The Riders who will join with the previously announced…
Harry Manx, Pierce Brothers, Kim Churchill, Roshani, Lloyd Spiegel, Hussy Hicks, Rick Steele & The Hot Biscuit Band, Rose Parker Band, Roshani, Shaun Kirk, Smokestack Rhino, The Human Highway, The Swamp Stompers, Tom Fisher & The Layabouts and Bridgetown’s own Tracey Barnett with more to be announced soon.
