Now just a month away, we’re counting down the days until the 21st annual Blues on Broadbeach kicks off and are thrilled to announce that the full program is now live online along with the just-launched dedicated Blues on Broadbeach app, designed to streamline the festival experience. Plus, we have even more exciting news to augment this sophisticated, five-star music festival experience!
In 2022 we are launching a fresh new stage to our award-winning festival for those of you who want to kick back and absorb the cool blues vibes in more intimate surrounds. The Federation Park stage is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some tunes away from the crowds. Once again there’ll also be opportunities for our fans to simultaneously satisfy their musical and culinary desires with some of our favourite local restaurants extending into the streets and in Victoria Park.
If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard, Blues on Broadbeach is boasting a world exclusive! Japan’s premier funk orchestra, the super-hot, super sensational Osaka Monaurail is…and hold onto your hats… being joined by the king of funk Rickey Calloway and the pope of funk Sir Waldo Weathers (James Brown Band)!
Festival Director Mark Duckworth said: “The Osaka Monaurail extended line-up blows our socks off and will be a funk experience you definitely won’t want to miss. We’re excited about the whole program this year and have worked hard to make sure it really is a nod to all the genres of our Blues roots. We’re also thrilled with the uptake of our brand new Twelve Bar Society membership, which has almost sold out. It includes some great exclusives and experiences, and I am looking forward to a cheeky blue beer that has been specially created for the festival by The Lucky Squire.”
We can now also announce that arguably Australia’s best roots’ musician, Jeff Lang will be visiting the festival, playing tunes and reading from his book Some Memories Never Die, exclusively for Twelve Bar Society members. It’ll be an intimate event for our inaugural members to hear first-hand Lang’s music and memoirs about his three decades on the road.
Getting around the festival and planning your week at Blues on Broadbeach will be even easier thanks to our newly launched festival app. The app allows fans to access a festival map, artist profiles and playing times as well as other event information. You can even schedule your own Blues itinerary, so you don’t miss a beat over the four-day festival.
A flavour of our incredible line-up of some of the best and most authentic blues artists the world has to offer, includes headliners James Morrison Motown Experience, Robben Ford (US) and R.L. Boyce (US), Karise Eden, Osaka Monaurail (Japan), Blue Empress All-Stars, Matty T Wall, and many more.
