ARIA and APRA nominated iconic Melbourne band Kingswood have today unveiled details about their forthcoming studio album ‘Home’ featuring the new single ‘Burning Holes’. This is hands down the best writing to come from the Kingswood camp since in recent times and heralds a significant return to form for the critically acclaimed 4-piece.
“‘Burning Holes’ signifies themes of solace, resolve and independence. Whilst initial inclinations might appear as longingly and melancholy, a subversive celebration of acceptance and contentment begins to resound, tied into the optimistic sounds of the harmonic consideration and emotional tones. The experience echoes the writing of classic country tropes where sorrow and hope clash in a beautiful duet.” – Kingswood
Musically and lyrically, Kingswood sound more sonically and emotionally aligned than ever due to the competence of rich acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies between Alexander Laska and Fergus Linacre. The band recorded the song at Newmarket Studios in Melbourne, and it was mixed and mastered in Nashville by revered American engineer Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlisle).
“To be frank, the creation of the song was incredibly straightforward – set up, play and sing. All live, all in one performance, dedicated and honest. We just kept tracking until one of the performances felt reflective of everything we set out to achieve emotionally and what you’re hearing is it.” – Kingswood
Kingswood have long been regarded as one of Australia’s premier rock groups, establishing a career and legacy for themselves as an electrifying and dynamic touring band for well over a decade. Their return in 2020 with the critically acclaimed third studio album Juveniles signaled a new era for the Melbourne favourites, characteristically redefining their musicality and exploring new sonic territory. Demonstrating their evolution as songwriters and musicians with more stories to tell, single ‘Bittersweet’ ranked as Triple M’s #1 Most Played Song in the country as well as ranking 45th on national radio, and #75 on the Shazam Top 200 in Australia.
Kingswood are currently on a massive 30+ date tour throughout the Northern Hemisphere, bringing their unique rock and roll live experience to Nashville, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Czechoslovakia.
Never a band to call a capital city run a ‘National Tour’, and not afraid to get their boots a little dusty, the boys you know and love are ready to make up for lost time with their record breaking ‘HOMETOWNS’ tour of 2023. The tour will see the band undertake their biggest tour to date, specially modifying a coach to sustain the overwhelmingly extensive undertaking.
”In Europe and America we tour in a sleeper bus, it works over there because city’s are so close. This doesn’t work in Australia unless you’re going rural, town to town. Which is what we are doing. But no sleeper bus like this exists back home so we are building our own just for this tour. This is phase one of the tour, there is a lot more to be announced next year. It will make it the greatest tour ever undertaken in Australia.” – Kingswood
