New Album by WA’S DATURA4 – ‘Neanderthal Jam’ is out today!

FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM OUT NOW ON LOS ANGELES' ALIVE NATURALSOUND RECORDS

Internationally acclaimed Perth band Datura4 – the current outfit of iconic Perth rock’n’roller Dom Mariani of The Stems and Someloves fame – today release their fifth album ‘Neanderthal Jam’ on AliveNatural Sound through MGM.

The band has also premiered a video for new single “Black Speakers”.  With its heavy groove, pain-peeling guitars and Deep Purple-esque organ, “Black Speakers” is almost prototypical Datur4 and will appeal to anyone with a fondness for classic early ’70s blues-based hard rock. Indeed it’s a love song to that stuff – the stuff that took Dom “high and freed (his) spirit to kiss the sky” when cranked out of the tall black speakers in his room in his younger days.

“Black Speakers” was preceded by three singles already, videos of which can be found below. The similarly dark and heavy blues-based thumper “Secret Society” followed the scorching “Going Back To Hoonsville” (and the non-LP version of the song featuring Perth blues legend Dave Hole on slide guitar that was also released), which itself followed April’s “Open The Line”. “Open The Line” was chosen as “The Coolest Song in the World” by Bruce Springsteen’s righthand man Stevie Van Zandt aka Little Steven on his influential and much-loved rock’n’roll radio channel on SiriusXM, The Underground Garage.  Dom, who is a long-time favourite of Stevie’s, was also interviewed on the channel on their weekly “Coolest Conversations” spot.

“The Coolest Song in the World This Week in the Underground Garage comes from the rock & roll capital of the world, Perth, Australia. Please welcome back to the Underground Garage stage, Datura4 Band!” – Little Steven’s Underground Garage
