New York City Rock ‘n’ Rollers, JANE LEE HOOKER, set to drop new studio album ‘Rollin’ on April 29th, 2022

New York City’s Jane Lee Hooker are set to self-release their new studio album, Rollin’, on April 29, 2022. Pre-sale link to digital and CD formats, HERE. The album features the band’s signature lead guitars, heavy rhythm section and soul-scorching vocals. Jane Lee Hooker’s music is a blend of rock ‘n’ roll, blues, punk, R&B and soul, paying respect to the legends of the past but with songwriting chops rooted firmly in the present. Record release parties featuring full, live sets are planned for New York City (Friday, April 22nd venue TBA) and Los Angeles (Saturday, April 30th venue TBA).

Rollin’ was written and recorded during the pandemic. Frontwoman Dana Athens says “Somehow, amidst the chaos of a global pandemic, we were able to write and record what I feel is our best work as a band yet.” Tina Gorin (guitar) adds “…astounding that some things, like writing music with each other, will always be a beautiful and safe world, even during a worldwide health disaster like COVID19.” Tracy Hightop (guitar) concurs stating: “We were really able to take our time and do these amazing songs justice. This album is just next level in so many respects. I can’t wait to get out there and play these songs in front of an audience!”

Jane Lee Hooker exploded out of New York City when they formed in 2015, with members having spent time in Nashville Pussy, Bad Wizard, Helldorado, Lez Zeppelin, punk rockers the Wives and Plasmatics offshoot New Hope. The band won international acclaim with their debut album of revved-up blues covers No B! in 2016, and were signed to legendary German blues/rock label Ruf Records. The follow-up album, Spiritus, featured original material written by the band and was released in 2017 – once again to glowing reviews from press.

Jane Lee Hooker has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, including Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic. The band returns to Europe in May/June 2022 for a run of dates kicking off in the Netherlands and wrapping in Germany. The five members of Jane Lee Hooker have shared the stage with acts like the Hellacopters, Turbonegro, Motörhead, MC5, the Melvins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple, Vanilla Fudge, the Allman Betts Band, Samantha Fish, Ben Folds Five and They Might Be Giants.

Produced and mixed by Matt Chiaravalle (Joe Bonamassa, Warren Zevon, Courtney Love, Spacehog, Kittie) and recorded at three studios (Virtue and Vice Studios in Brooklyn, NY; Dreamland Recording Studios in Woodstock, NY; Mercy Sound Recording Studios in New York, NY), the nine tracks on Rollin’ are 1. “Lucky,” 2. “Drive,” 3. “Jericho,” 4. “Weary Bones,” 5. “All Good Things,” 6. “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” (Cannonball Adderley – written by Joe Zawinul), 7. “White Gold,” 8. “Runaway Train,” and 9. “Mean Town Blues – Live at Dreamland” (CD only; Johnny Winter). The album was mastered at The Lodge Mastering (New York, NY) by Emily Lazar, a Grammy winner known for her mastering work on albums by Beck, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, David Bowie, The Killers, Garbage, Sonic Youth, Goo Goo Dolls, Linkin Park, John Mayer, Panic! At the Disco, Sia and many others.
