Even before the needle hits the groove just by looking at the album cover you can’t help thinking Australia’s own ‘Airborne’ and with Airborne pretty quiet since releasing ‘Boneshaker’ in late 2019 there’s always room for more in that vein. Sadly ‘Rock Put’ offers only three songs, but this EP release on Greek label ‘Rock of Angels’ proves that they are well worth checking out!
AC/DC of course like for Airbourne are a touchstone and the high energy opener ‘You Cheated on me’ it’s a foot to the floor rocker driven by the riff and the raspy vocals of Adrien Desquirez who our course has a little of Bon about him.
‘Factory’ is the type f song that Airborne used to do so well, a little slower but equally driven with a towering chorus meant for crowd participation, it could also sit equally well in teh hands of a Brian-fronted AC/DC. Two great songs!
Sadly the final track ‘Forever Young’ closes out with a lack of fizz. It’s the slower number and really in the shadow of the first two cuts. Whilst it’s by no means a disappointment it just doesn’t feel up to the others, as a result has this been a two track single we’d be possibly even more excited. But with this to keep us going till the next full-length the future is looking bright indeed for Overdrivers and the ‘Rock Out!’ EP is well worth your investment.
