Perth melodic metallers Icarus Lives have just dropped their blistering new EP ‘Scorched Reprise’. Influenced by modern metal superstars such as The Agonist, Nightwish and Eyes Set To Kill , Icarus Lives have mastered their concoction of clean, catchy vocals with crushingly heavy riffs, exhilarating guitar solos and pummelling rhythms.
Showcasing a tantalising blend of European metal and melodic rock elements, the groups first offering ‘Secret Keeper’ has been garnering airplay and coverage including features on Heavy Mag, Hysteria Mag, Amnplify, Andrew Haug Radio (AU), Fryday (GB) and more. It has been impressive to watch Icarus Lives consistently release new music even in the face of a global pandemic, which is exactly why they have a bright future as one of the country’s leading heavy music bands.
Drummer Naomi Treacy speaks: “I think we have encapsulated a really good representation of the fragments that make Icarus Lives an exciting project. We have three very different songs that stand out on their own, and one could think of the EP as a kind of tasting board for the directions that Icarus Lives could venture into as a collective. Not one song on this EP is the same, and that keeps it fresh for us, but doesn’t take away from the emotional flairs in them either. I especially think that those who enjoy exploring different genres or elements in metal will enjoy what we have created.”
Following a successful release of the band’s debut album ‘Vantablack’ (2017), singles ‘Collision of Counterparts’ (2019) and ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ by Bonnie Tyler (2021), Icarus Lives have performed alongside heavy metal royalty PAIN, toured Japan with The Agonist and Cellar Darling, and delivered their unique melodic metal flavor to hungry audiences on their Australian tour. With the addition of their electrifying new Frontwoman Aria Scarlett and a new EP on the horizon, Icarus Lives are ready to cement their name in the Heavy Music Realm.
