SARAH McLEOD releases rocking version of the Motown Classic ‘KEEP ME HANGING ON’

The Superjesus’ Sarah McLeod has this week released a rocking cover of the Motown Classic ‘Keep me Hanging On’. The song was recorded at Lush Studios and features Scott Eckel on drums. ‘Keep Me Hanging On’ was engineered by James Griffiths and was mixed & mastered by Jared Nettle at House Of Sap Studios, SA.

On the song, McLeod says, “So this is for a bit of fun. I’ve always loved this song, written by Motown heroes Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier & Eddie Holland and recorded by a bunch of my favourite artists over the years! From The Supremes to Rod Stewert to Kim Wilde, I love every version. So I wanted to try my hand at a version with my rock duo set up. This is my first recording with the dual output guitar that plays bass and guitar at the same time. I resisted the temptation for any overdubs, just play it in one hit. Both the guitar and the bass are going direct out of my pedal board straight into the desk, recorded simultaneously. It’s fun to be able to sound like a rock trio with only two people! This is the vibe I’ll be bringing to the Big Red Bash next week!! Cant wait!”

McLeod discussed about using these guitar techniques in our recent interview with her when she was in WA supporting Jon Stevens. During the interview Sarah told us that one of the guitars she has transformed was a ‘gift’ from the legendary Billy Thorpe, in the hope he would steer her away from dance music and back to rock n’ roll. Sarah is currently staring in a theatre production of Jane Eyre presented by Shake & Stir Theatre Company, which is touring the show Nationally throughout 2022.
