WA’S DATURA4 – Led by DOM MARIANI – Premiere new music video “GOING BACK TO HOONSVILLE”

Internationally acclaimed Perth band Datura4 – the current outfit of iconic Perth rock’n’roller Dom Mariani of The Stems and Someloves fame – are back with another new single from their forthcoming fifth album ‘Neanderthal Jam’.

New single “Going Back to Hoonsville” is the second version of this particular song to appear – last month the group dropped a non-album, digital-only single release of a version featuring legendary Perth blues guitarist Dave Hole guesting on slide.  Hole, who was a Perth regular in the ’70s and 80s, rose to prominence internationally in the ’90s after signing to Chicago’s legendary Alligator label, becoming the preeminent Australian blues figure on the Australian stage, and a player who counts Metallica’s Kirk Hammett among his fans.

Datura4, themselves a Perth institution with an international fanbase, are known for their love of the heavy Australian blues of the ’70s, feature in their ranks long time Dave Hole sideman, keyboard player Bob Patient.

“Going Back To Hoonsville” also follows April’s “Open The Line”, which was chosen as “The Coolest Song in the World” by Bruce Springsteen’s righthand man Stevie Van Zandt aka Little Steven on his influential and much-loved rock’n’roll radio channel on SiriusXM, The Underground Garage.  Dom, who is a long-time favourite of Stevie’s, was also interviewed on the channel on their weekly “Coolest Conversations” spot.

“The Coolest Song in the World This Week in the Underground Garage comes from the rock & roll capital of the world, Perth, Australia. Please welcome back to the Underground Garage stage, Datura4 Band, with ‘Open The Line'” – Little Steven’s Underground Garage

“Open The Line” was also featured in Classic Rock magazine’s Tracks of the Week, where it came in second behind Pink Floyd (and ahead of Jack White) in a readers’ poll.

“Open the Line” and “Going Back to Hoonsville” will feature on Datura4’s new album Neatherthal Jam, out August 12 on Alive Naturalsound Records.
