Steelhouse Festival are proud to announce that Black Stone Cherry will be this year’s Sunday headliners in a UK festival exclusive for the 28-30 July 2023 weekend. The Kentucky rockers, currently on a UK Arena tour, will be making their debut at the top of the mountain and adding even more weight to the truly international range of top drawer Rock artists. Steelhouse are delighted also to welcome Elegant Weapons as Sunday special guests, performing their first ever UK show and seriously bringing the noise. This is the incredible group – very metal, very heavy – led by Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner, bolstered and emboldened by the regal presence of Ronnie Romero [Rainbow, Vandenberg, Michael Schenker], Uriah Heep’s Davey Rimmer, on bass and Accept drummer, Christopher Williams [the studio iteration of the band also features Rex Brown and Scott Travis].
Additionally, When Rivers Meet and The Karma Effect are both now confirmed to play Friday, and Dead Man’s Whiskey will be opening proceedings on Saturday.
Black Stone Cherry said, “When the UK calls, we come running. And this time we’ve been summoned to the Hill top in Wales to headline this year’s Steelhouse festival! We’ve always heard excellent things about this festival, venue, and the vibe that comes along with it and we can’t wait to make our debut performance there this summer!”
With yet more announcements still to come, a whole host of incredible bands are locked in right now, including Friday headliners Kris Barras, Saturday night headliners Airbourne, plus The Answer, Blues Pills, Florence Black, The Vintage Caravan, The Damn Truth, Austin Gold, Kira Mac, Empyre, The Cruel Knives and Jordan Red.
Over a decade has passed since the inaugural Steelhouse in 2011, and the Festival at the top of the mountain boasts not only the best views of any UK rock event but one of the most passionate, friendly and loyal followings. With a reputation for not only bringing in the biggest and best names from the international world of Rock, Steelhouse also understands the role it can play in throwing open its prestigious stage to the best of the new breed of bands. It all adds up to a compelling mix of classic and cutting edge, old and new, near and far – in this announcement alone we have acts from USA, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Northern Ireland, Iceland, England and the Steelhouse homeland of Wales.
Steelhouse organisers, Max and Mikey say, “It’s been several years in the making so it’s with much excitement we can proudly announce that Kentucky’s finest, Black Stone Cherry are headlining Steelhouse 2023. Finally, the stars have aligned and we’ll have the Mountaintop, southern rock party we’ve always dreamt of having to bring the curtain down on this year’s event”.
They go on to say, “And what about the serious ‘Firepower’ that’s also coming our way care of Judas Priest guitar god, Richie Faulkner. When he announced the formation of Elegant Weapons, and revealed the personnel involved, it was pretty obvious this would be a top-grade outfit. Having heard the sheer power and quality of the material they’re about to unleash, we know they’ll shake the Steelhouse Mountain, hard!”
