BLUES AT BRIDGETOWN 2023: Second Artist Announcement

Jack Botts

It’ll be here before you know it. The 31st edition of Blues at Bridgetown, WA’s favourite springtime musical escape is rolling ‘round the corner with a three-day cruise of melodies and new memories.

With great pleasure we announce the second round of artists bringing their goodness for a weekend’s worth of amazing music from Friday-Sunday, November 10-12.

Currently touring Europe and the US Jack Botts is a breath of fresh air in the Australian music industry. A singer/songwriter from Brisbane who creates a brand of surf-folk drenched in depth and substance, Jack’s sound is perfect for bringing those coastal road trip vibes to life, and his live shows are no different, ranging from bars, venues and festivals, to busking on the streets across the Australian coastline. Jack is becoming one of Australia’s fastest-rising songwriters under the radar thanks to his super chill guitar riffs, great melodies and honey-smooth vocals.

Kim Churchill

Kim Churchill has achieved some incredible things as a professional musician. Recognised as much internationally as he is in Australia, Churchill has performed headline shows, festivals and supports alike all over the planet. Notable performances include Glastonbury, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Montreal Jazz, Telluride Blues, and supports with Milky Chance, Billy Bragg, Michael Franti and Nahko & Medicine For The People. Known for his magnetic, dynamic stage presence, he unites lyrical artistry with fierce vocals, while using his guitar to create landscapes that animate his blissful lyrics.

Central Coast sisters Abbey and Mia Toole have played music with their cousin Jaymi since they were just kids. But those humble beginnings quickly evolved into a fully-fledged teenage touring band, the trio discovering a knack for effortless folk-pop songwriting that unashamedly brings catchy melodies and pounding rhythms to the fore. With a DIY mindset that would rival any act, Little Quirks are determined to keep the music fun at all times. Their live shows are explosive and powerful – a smile-inducing experience for the masses. An epic family gathering you’ll agree.

Jesse Redwing has honed his chops in smoky juke joints all over the world for damn near two decades now. On top of touring Europe and the US with the Jesse Redwing Band, Jesse has supported such acts as Cedric Burnside, Jon Cleary, Cold Chisel, The Teskey Brothers and Ana Popovic. A track off his debut album, Crawlin’ Up the Walls, was featured on the hit Netflix show, Shooter. Jesse’s honest, down-to-earth playing is guaranteed to fill your cup with his contemporary take on the timeless soulful sounds of the blues legends.

Fremantle singer-songwriter and producer Boox Kid is a proud Noongar man delivering unique electro-pop. He’s a cross-genre performer, starring as Wardong in WA Opera’s Koolbardi Wer Wardong, written by Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse and sung entirely in Noongar language. Fresh off opening for George Ezra and The Hoodoo Gurus, plus sets at Perth Bluesfest, Dark Sky Festival and the WA Day Festival, 2023 continues to be a big year for Boox Kid with his first-ever Blues at Bridgetown appearance.

Adding their own musical delights will also be Sunday Lemonade, Dave Mann Collective, Wil Thomas, The Nomadics, David Hyams, Chicago Blues Review, Memphis Funk & Groove, Lachy John & The Red Bellies and Mary, Daun & Esther who will join with the previously announced…

C.W.
