BLUES AT BRIDGETOWN 2023 – Third & final artist announcement

19-Twenty

It’s a mix of music and magic in the air as the 31st edition of Blues at Bridgetown, the festival that gives you three days of blues, roots, soul and rockin’ folk bliss draws ever closer from Friday-Sunday, November 10-12. We’re chuffed to bring you the third and final artist announcement.

19-Twenty have for a long time been whipping up a frenzy on the festival scene and at this point are beloved members of the Blues at Bridgetown family. They are electric. An infectious riff and groove-based blue-billy-grass-rockin’-roots band. Constantly on the road or in the sky, they have toured seven times around Australia and performed gigs all throughout Europe. Performing anywhere and everywhere, this straight-up 100% independent act have been blazing throughout Europe and Australia and gaining new music fans/friends from their live shows.

Blue Shaddy

Blue Shaddy are also bona fide Blues at Bridgetown icons. With a passionate and unwavering commitment to their music, Blue Shaddy has gained fans far and wide on their festival circuits.  Jim McClelland, guitarist, singer and main songwriter, blends elements of blues, country, and rock in his writing creating a whirlpool of foot-stomping infectious energy. Taking you from a smoky, whiskey-soaked blues lounge to funky town before winding up drinking moonshine in the all-in haystack hoedown.

Mitch Santiago is a is a self-taught 17-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Perth. Mitch has released a series of songs amassing over 4 million streams including that of his new single, Talk To Me, written by Mitch and Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers) and co-produced by Mitch and frequent collaborator Andy Lawson (The Buoys, Eskimo Joe). Having had multiple songs on Triple J and other radio stations around the world, Mitch will be performing at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany as well as dates in London, Rotterdam and Amsterdam before heading back to WA for Blues at Bridgetown. We can’t wait.

Mitch Santiago

Frank Sultana is a modern-day Australian bluesman. Dripping with a pre-WW2 mojo, dark, dirty guitar tones and a voice that has the grit and soul of the characters and places he writes and sings about. Frank has been writing, recording and performing his original blues songs in Australia since his 2011 debut, Blues from the Lost Motel, and now has four EPs and eight albums under his belt, including three releases in the last two years. In January 2023, among a field of 150 artists from around the world, Frank competed in and won the solo/duo section of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

A pair of hand-crafted boots, tinted Lennonesque glasses, the trademark voice, the whiskey town harp, the Grand Canyon repertoire, he’s been dubbed Perth’s grandfather of blues. Rick Steele is one of the most charismatic and amiable characters in the music business. With a set of vocal chords to match his name and countless humorous stories and observations of life, he is an evening’s entertainment in his own right. His many Bridgetown appearances over the years with The Hot Biscuit Band are the stuff of legend!
