Most local artists know that it’s usually a long, hard slog to work to get opportunities to further a bands reach and to be able to get a chance to show the world just what they have got to offer. WARBIRDS are one such band. With a strong following in the Melbourne music scene, as well as a collection of fantastic material to their name, the band have been unfortunate to have a few false starts. Covid twice scuppered plans for the band to head to WA for a series of shows in support of their album ‘Order of Chaos’ and most recently a change in personnel saw front man and founder member Anth Nekich in the need to recruit a new bass player.
Fate has a hand in rewarding those who persevere and earlier this year the rock trio were rewarded with the announcement that they would be heading to the UK to feature on the now sold-out Hard Rock Hell festival, alongside heavyweights Yngwie Malmsteen, Tyketto, Geoff Tate and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, as well as a series of sideshows around the country.
With bags almost packed and a line-up that has been tearing the roof off the rehearsal rooms, it was time to catch up with old friend Anth Nekich to find out how preparations have been going, what they are up to in the lead up to the show and a bit about the Pozible campaign they are running to help raise much needed funds to finance the trip.
