KISS have announced two local supports acts for their final Australian show, which is set to take place at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Saturday 7 October.  The Final Curtain will see KISS supported by Oz rockers Regurgitator & The Delta Riggs and special guests, as previously announced, are Californian rockers Weezer.  Get ready for an epic night of rock complete with full light, sound, and a wicked pyrotechnic show.

The Final Curtain show was initiated via a national petition, with passionate KISS fans pleading for the band to return to play one more show in Australia before they bring their incredible touring career to an end with their final-ever performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 2 December 2023.  The legendary rockers have been on a worldwide farewell tour dubbed ‘End Of The Road’ since 2018.

KISSteria well and truly took over Australia in 1980 after their first-ever tour here, resulting in a deep & lasting connection between the band and their fans.  The sold-out Unmasked Tour saw them perform at some iconic football stadiums – they were front page news, plus broke all kinds of records.  Four decades on, KISS has continued their love affair with Australia, whilst gaining new fans across multiple generations along the way.

The sold-out End of the Road tour in November last year received blistering reviews and proved, yet again, why KISS is the most iconic live show in the world.  It’s only fitting that they perform their final ever Australian show at a stadium to host the Kings of Rock.

Weezer emerged in 1992 and released their debut effort, Blue Album, two years later. The album spawned two highly-acclaimed and chart-performing singles, “Undone – The Sweater Song” and “Buddy Holly.” Upon its release, Blue Album entered the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 16. The record achieved phenomenal commercial success, eventually selling over three million copies.

In 2005, Weezer dropped their highest-charting effort, Make Believe. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The record was also an international success, entering the charts in 15 other countries.  The platinum-certified album featured the band’s first No. 1 single “Beverly Hills” which topped the Alternative chart and peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.  In 2016, they released their tenth studio album, Weezer (The White Album), a self-proclaimed beach album that debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock/Alternative chart, and Top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.  Their latest recording saw the group release four EPs for each season (the project was called SZNZ) at the beginning of winter, spring, summer, and fall in 2022.

Weezer has earned a series of awards and nominations throughout their career. In 1995, their single “Buddy Holly” won four MTV Video Music Awards. Moreover, their first No. 1 single, “Beverly Hills,” brought them their first Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song in 2006. Three years later, their hit single, “Pork and Beans” from their self-titled 2008 album, won them their first Grammy Award for Best Music Video and another MTV Video Music Award.  Weezer has sold over 10 million albums in the U.S, and over 35 million albums worldwide.

Regurgitator

REGURGITATOR formed in Brisbane late stage ’93 by Quan Yeomans and Ben Ely, along with drummer Martin Lee – the debut live show March 1994 for Friends of the Earth.  Current drummer, Peter Kostic joined late ‘99. Releasing numerous EPs and albums recorded in dubiously idiosyncratic scenarios: from TU-PLANG (1996) in the jungle canopy outskirts of Bangkok; the pixel obsessed 80s jolt of UNIT (1997) in a condemned Fortitude Valley warehouse as demolishers waited outside; MISHMASH(2004) in a glass panopticon installed in Melbourne’s Federation Square as the Band in a Bubble pastiche of reality shows; to LOVE & PARANOIA (2007) in a bullet riddled studio in Rio de Janeiro under the looming rock arms of Corcovado.

In the past 29 plus years they have toured all over Australia, NZ, Japan, UK, Europe, USA, Asia, Middle East along with a barrage of festivals (Big Day Out, Clokenflap, Reading, Fuji Rock, The Falls, Meredith etc). Always drawn to the odd they collaborated on the live music/dance project ‘Rock Show’; worked with puppets on Raised by Wolves; performed a live soundtrack to AKIRA at the Sydney Opera House; and flippin’ eggs with the riotous kid fun of the POGOGO SHOW… among other weird trips down that spiral of light fantastic.  Still touring and flooring it, more recently so on the sold out 2023 UNITS tour… more than ever they find themselves extending the vitality of their live performances, continuing to infuse them with exuberance, mania and their mashed-up motion of rock, punk, electro, funk, pop, hip-hop… New album brewing in the can.

Delta Riggs

Over the course of their career, The Delta Riggs have become one of Australia’s most celebrated indie-rock bands. Multiple singles have been added to high rotation on triple j, and their record ‘Dipz Zebazios‘ was a feature album on the station. They’ve also sold-out multiple headline tours, become a staple act on the festival circuit and shared stages with the likes of Foo Fighters and Kasabian.

After releasing their fourth studio album ‘Modern Pressure‘ in 2019, The Delta Riggs were poised and ready to set up for a massive 2020, with the album’s lead single ‘Fake That‘ being added to high rotation on triple j. They also completed a sold-out arena tour of New Zealand and supported Billy Idol around Australia.

2023 sees a new album, led by enchanting new single ‘Solutions’, produced by Alex Markwell (Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Stellie) and the band, and mixed by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey). ‘Solutions’ is three minutes of glorious rock and roll bliss, inspiring sun-soaked imagery of afternoons with family and friends. An irresistible atmosphere is created through alluring piano, echoing gang vocals and fuzz-laden guitar leads, setting the stage for lead singer Elliot Hammond‘s storytelling nous to shine, somewhat reminiscent of Australian songsmiths like Paul Kelly.
