Legendary English group THE KORGIS to embark on inaugural Australian Tour in June 2023

Why did it take so long? The truth is The Korgis were a studio band up until 2017. They liked the idea of being the backroom boys behind the hits… and have hits they did! ‘If I Had You’ from the self-titled debut album raced into the UK Charts in 1979. Original member Steve Lindsay almost simultaneously had a hit with the first ever Korgis demo ‘Lines’.

This was followed by the worldwide Chart album Dumb Waiters which catapulted ‘Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime’ to worldwide smash status. Still with half a million Spotify plays per month, this timeless classic has touched something in people around the world.

Sticky George the third album included ‘Don’t Look Back’ and ‘All the Love in the World’ which saw them add South America to the list of conquered continents. With their 90’s album, The Korgis embraced a more global sound with the anthems ‘One Life’ and the title track ‘This World’s for Everyone’

This is where the current Korgis have taken up the thread. Still led by original vocalist/writer James Warren the band released a new album in 2021 titled Kartoon World that has been described as a ‘career high’ and ‘THE album of 2021’.

This was swiftly followed by Kool Hit’s, Kuriosities & Kollaborations in 2022, which brings the old classics up to date with brand new versions and includes some previously unreleased gems. One of those gems is ‘Always a Sunny Day’ a co-write with Australian Joe Matera. As well as being a best-selling author, Joe has been a music journalist for many years and couples that with his career as a rock artist.

This brings us neatly onto upcoming Australian tour, where the band will be premiering their new show, talking about the music that influenced them and performing their own versions of those classics. Joe will be The Korgis special guest, not only as support act but also, will join the band for a portion of the set.
