LIVE PHOTOS: Beat the Blues featuring Dave Hole, Vdelli, Matty T Wall & more

THE CHARLES HOTEL, PERTH - 15th JULY 2023

Starr Special Events put together a stellar line-up to beat the winter blues at The Charles Hotel featuring some high quality artists. Our photographer Linda Dunjey was there to capture the evening that featured Dave Hole, Vdelli, Matty T Wall, Blue Shaddy and Toby Beard.

Dave Hole is widely regarded as one of the all-time slide guitar greats. He has won numerous awards around the world and headlined many festivals worldwide. “Slide guitar fanatics will have their brains blown out … prepare to hear your jaw hitting the ground” – Billboard USA

Vdelli

Michael Vdelli, frontman and namesake of the band VDELLI, first picked up a guitar when he was 13 years old. Locking himself in his room and learning how to play from listening to the radio, Michael has since become one of the leading exponents of his art in the world. Combine this with his raw yet captivating vocals, Michael’s stage presence and energy continues to mesmerize audiences around the globe.

Matty T Wall

Matty T Wall, standing in for 19-Twenty delivered his high-octaine blues rock set with his trademark white Gibson SG slung across his shoulder.

Blue Shaddy

A family band that seem to fit more into one song than most do in a two hour set. To quote ‘The Hollies’ ‘the road is long with many a winding turn’. ‘He aint heavy’, ‘he’s my brother’ (Belly), then there’s the wife (Sandy), and now after some 17 years away from the band drummer Dean Wuksta is back, and there you have 27 years of ‘Blue Shaddy’ fresh and ready to go. Jim McClelland, guitarist singer and main songwriter blends elements of, blues, country, and rock in his writing creating a whirlpool of foot stomping infectious energy.

Toby Beard

Toby Beard is so much more than your average singer-songwriter. She powers through each live performance with her own lyrical talent and fierce, dynamic vocals, with audiences revelling in the genuinity and honesty of both her songwriting and her performance. Her compelling vocals and the way in which she captures her audience can’t be explained but just needs to be heard and seen. Her live performance truly is a treat.
