Friday (27th) saw the release of the remastered single and video of The Mark Of Cain‘s powerful “LMA”, taken the forthcoming, first-time-on-vinyl Ill At Ease Deluxe Edition, and the live single and video of “Tell Me” from the previously unreleased Livid Live ’96 set, both of which will be released Friday November 3 through Cooking Vinyl Australia.
The release of both album next Friday, which has been delayed a week due to manufacturing issues (the release date was originally announced as today, October 27), comes ahead of the group’s national Ill At Ease tour, which was itself rescheduled due to serious injuries suffered by bass player Kim Scott in a road cycling accident in early September. The tour now goes from late November through to late January and takes in Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Fremantle, Melbourne and Hobart.
TMOC‘s John Scott says of the situation:
“… the release date for both the remastered Ill At Ease and new Livid Live ’96 albums have been put back a week to Nov 3. Another proof of the saying that no plan survives contact with the enemy.
“That said, good things comes to those who wait, and in this instance, we think the good things are pretty fucking great! Our remaster of IAE has provided a little more bottom end all around and we’ve massaged a little issue we had with the snare sound and given that a nice thwack to it. It all now sounds even more like we envisioned.
“Livid Live viscerally captures us in that zeitgeist of time when Australian music was “going off” and The Mark Of Cain were there for that ride. The playing is furious, adrenaline pumped and legendary ABC live engineer Phil McKellar has remixed the original Triple J recording and captured us perfectly.
“Lastly we are all relieved to announce that Kim is now out of his metal bondage caused by his near-death cycling accident and he’s already booked us into rehearsals so we will be primed and ready for battle starting with Adelaide November 25th. Full dates below.
“In the meantime, here’s some samples of what I have been talking about. An updated video for ‘LMA’ featuring the brand new audio and the same for ‘Tell Me’ taken from the live album. “
