Young Lions are back with a vengeance! It’s been five long years since the band’s critically acclaimed album ‘Mr Spaceman’, and on Friday, January 6 2023, they return with their highly anticipated fourth studio album, titled ‘Make a Rainbow and Put It in the Sky’.

“The name ‘Make a Rainbow and Put it in the Sky’ for us, speaks to the journey we have all been on to put this album out,” says singer Zach Britt. “The ups and downs have been unfathomable but the results are something we’ll forever be proud of”.

Since 2018, Young Lions have drip-fed a taste of what’s on offer on the 13-track LP, first with ‘Help’ (2018), ‘Golden’ (2019), ‘Coming Home’ (2019), ‘Pilgrim’ (2020), ‘Kaleidoscope’ (2022), the title track ‘Make A Rainbow and Put It In The Sky’ (2022), and the latest single, ‘Run’.

Lyrically, the root of each track centres around mental health.  “A lot of these lyrics were penned a long time ago but still ring true for me today,” says Britt. “Some songs on the album are super personal and I’ve put a lot of my own lived experiences over the years into them, and in a much more visceral way than usual”.

The two latest single releases, ‘Kaleidoscope’ and ‘Make A Rainbow and Put it in the Sky’, have already set tongues wagging: ‘Kaleidoscope’ was featured as an Artist Spotlight of the Week on Triple J Unearthed Radio, laying the groundwork for ‘Make A Rainbow and Put It in the Sky’ to pique the interest of Home & Hosed’s, Declan Byrne, citing the track as “the sound of flexing muscles, heart included.”

With hard-hitting lyrics like “if you want to feel it, then go out and meet it”, this is an album that is as vulnerable as it is honest.

“Musically we are in a great spot,” says Britt.  “We aren’t trying too hard to be something we aren’t, we’re just being us and I don’t think it’s ever felt this good to play together.”

Lead by charismatic front-man, Zach Britt, bassist Morgan Castle, drummer Matt Gibson, and guitarist Ryan Alison, Young Lions celebrate their tenth year together in 2023. To support the album’s release, Young Lions also announce their national tour which kicks off in June 2023 and they have one promise: “these shows are going to be really special! We are so excited to be out there with all of you soon!”
