‘Recontinue’ delves into the theme of regeneration: growth from what’s seemingly dead or damaged, resilience to adversity, and finding strength in hard times. Lyrically, ‘Recontinue’ explores questions and concepts on humanity’s self-destructive behaviour towards ourselves, our social connections, and our planet. It’s a call to arms for all people to RECONTINUE: find better ways to connect, resolve and prosper – while accepting the inevitable ups and downs of the human experience.
‘Recontinue’ packages this in 11 new tracks – weaving in and out of heavy & soft, dark & light, in-time & off-time, lyric & instrumental metal music that ALARUM is well known for.
The band comments on the second single “’Zero Nine Thirty’ is a cacophony of musical styles and themes. Think of it like a dream where one minute you may be walking in a quiet field, next minute you’re stressed and running late for something! The video for ‘Zero Nine Thirty’ is trying to not take it all too seriously. It represents the attitude that there’s no rules to music. Music is for everyone, for any age, for any occasion and no matter what the genre, music needs only to move you and your soul!”
ALARUM have nothing to prove in sheer technical prowess on their instruments, or superlative proficiency in progressive metal songwriting. They’ve demonstrated for over 25 years that they are masters in complex time signatures, virtuoso guitar and bass chops, and layered sonic landscapes. Their music can be deliciously delicate and lovely, cheeky jazz fusion fun, or brutal death metal heavy.
‘Recontinue’ gives you all of those elements that you know and love about ALARUM, with the addition of the weight of an anvil.
Recorded in Melbourne both at Danger Tone Studios and Alarum HQ, the album was mixed by Troy McCosker at Audio Ninja Productions, and mastered by John Ruberto at Mastersound Studios.
