Fresh off selling out Melbourne’s Forum in 24 hours, alongside the sold out sign hitting Adelaide and less than 200 tickets available for the remaining shows on their Half Living Things Tour, Aussie metalcore behemoths Alpha Wolf today unveil Whenever You’re Ready; a compelling and cathartic new cut taken from the band’s upcoming third full length album, Half Living Things due out Friday 5 April via Greyscale Records and SharpTone Records.
Pushing their own limitless boundaries and exploring new musical terrain, Whenever You’re Ready opens with hazy ambience before evolving with haunting beats and searing vocals, showcasing a bewitching new side of Alpha Wolf, built firmly around its soaring melodic chorus and stirring subject matter.
“Alpha Wolf likes to let our listeners expect the unexpected at all times and Whenever You’re Ready is a testament to exactly that,” shares the band of their brand new track. “We could feel the impact of this song from the moment the first chords were written. Dancing around on our melodic side, this song touches on the complications between people with a deep connection to one another and ultimately losing them, everyone has a story to tell in this regard and this is ours.”
On album number three, Alpha Wolf harness and heighten their trademark intensity, crafting the self-produced Half Living Things in 2023 entirely on their own terms. A collection of tracks that are simultaneously heavy, fun as hell, and beating with chugs, grooves, melodics, breakdowns and more, Half Living Things is a hard-hitting celebration of the entire Alpha Wolf sonic gamut that stings and salves equally with dazzling finesse.
Speaking on the new album, Alpha Wolf vocalist Lochie shares: “There can be no inner conflict without the constant tug of war between desire and disdain, the things you want versus the things you need, or the things that make you feel alive against the parts of it that do not. You cannot grow new parts without leaving the dead ones behind. You cannot be settled until you have truly known the opposite. Find out what makes you tick and just keep running around the clock until you’re happy enough to die.”
Never ones to do anything by halves, Alpha Wolf have relentlessly sharpened their trademark intensity over the years, from releasing their critically-acclaimed sophomore album A Quiet Place To Die amid the pandemic in 2020, snagging a #6 spot on the ARIA Charts and a nomination for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album at the ARIA Awards, to releasing a split EP, The Lost & The Longing, with Welsh rockers Holding Absence in 2022. And, as of 2024, the band are now ferociously approaching their third full-length album Half Living Things, due out on Friday 5 April.
Launching their own curated festival CVLTFEST in 2022, Alpha Wolf also continue to powerfully fly the flag for their own incredible wares as well as the local heavy music scene and exciting international acts, with CVLTFEST returning last month for its second edition to critical acclaim, headlined by Alpha Wolf themselves alongside friends Emmure, Crossfaith, Ocean Grove and many more.
Ticking off their biggest North American run to date with Motionless in White and tearing up multiple stages as part of the inaugural Knotfest Australia last year, Alpha Wolf kicked off 2024 touring nationally alongside The Amity Affliction, and will embark on a massive North American headline run starting next month, supported by Emmure, UnityTX and Chamber, before heading to the UK to appear at Download Festival alongside Queens Of The Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, Avenged Sevenfold and more.
Hinting at things to come from their upcoming album via Bring Back The Noise, a neck-snapping party-starter, as well as the internet-breaking collab single Sucks 2 Suck with legendary rapper Ice-T, Alpha Wolf are also set to whip Australia into a frenzy this August, headlining their Half Living Things Australian Tour alongside supports The Devil Wears Prada (USA), Invent Animate (USA) and thrown (SWE). Melbourne and Adelaide shows have already sold out, with less than 200 tickets available for remaining shows in Perth, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane.
Alpha Wolf know how far they have come, but it’s what lays ahead of them that’s keeping the band hungry.
