Naarm rock artist Ash Acid has written a song about Indigenous athlete Cathy Freeman. Tender but fiery, sweet but absolute; this track is dedicated to the Queen of the track and is the title single from her EP, set to sprint into the sonic realm on October 11th. “All the Time” elevates Cathy Freeman to goddess status, Acid’s lyrics illuminating the 400m gold medallist as the epitome and duality of human and nature, athlete and mediator.
It was exactly Cathy’s gorgeous athleticism, punishing work ethic and ability to push through immense pressure from a country that did not even formally recognise her people’s flag that inspired Ash Acid to write this song of admiration. More than a rock song and deeper than a pop song, this track embodies a dimension of its own as both a poem and an ode, a letter and a story.
Ash will celebrate the launch of her new EP ‘All The Time’ at Mamma Chen’s in Melbourne on Saturday October 26th and is stoked to have Paul Burke and Rachel Trainor kicking out the jams with her onstage and Aimee Francis Jess Shreds and Zak Raymond also on the bill, who will certainly rip it up. Entry is free.
