Celebrated children’s entertainer Don Spencer OAM is thrilled to announce the release of his latest album, Wonderful World of Pets. This vibrant collection of songs is a testament to Spencer’s lifelong passion for animals and his unique ability to captivate young audiences with his musical storytelling.
In addition to the excitement surrounding his new album, Don Spencer was recently honoured with the prestigious AIR Award for Outstanding Achievement, a testament to his enduring impact on the music industry and his dedication to entertaining and inspiring children through his charity the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.
At the award ceremony in Adelaide, Don took the podium and joyfully sang the iconic opening line, “There’s a bear in there…”. The entire audience spontaneously joined in, singing the beloved Play School theme song together, creating a moment of collective nostalgia and celebration. The touching tribute demonstrated his enduring impact on the hearts of so many he has touched through music.
Don’s new release, Wonderful World of Pets, invites listeners to embark on a delightful journey through a menagerie of musical adventures. With tracks like ‘Pat the Cat,’ ‘Bob the Kelpie,’ and ‘He’s a Cockatoo,’ this album offers a rich tapestry of tunes that celebrate a diverse range of pets. From the reggae-infused ‘Oh Lola,’ to the country-style ‘I Had a Pony,’ each song is crafted to transport listeners into the enchanting experience of having these animals as pets. The album’s lead single ‘I Wish I Had An Elephant,’ is accompanied by a beautifully illustrated book of the same title, which brings the magical world of the song to life.
“This album has a song for all animal lovers,” Spencer said. “From the beloved ‘Bob the Kelpie’ and ‘The Smart Galah’ to ‘Pete the Lorikeet’ and ‘Shirley the Lawn Mowing Sheep,’ I hope you get as much enjoyment singing along as I did in recording this fun album.”
