INFECTIOUS GROOVES Play Rare Shows In Australia This March – April

Last week, news that the legendary Infectious Grooves will be appearing at BluesFest set the internet alight!  To add fuel to that fire, the funk-metal supergroup have announced massive headline shows in Melbourne Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney!

Boasting an all-star lineup of incredible players, Infectious Grooves are set to unleash an insane performance that sees them play their first shows globally in 5 years and their first in Australia since playing at Soundwave Festival in 2008, 16 long years ago!

The 2024 incarnation of Infectious Grooves is more potent than ever. Featuring original members, Suicidal Tendencies frontman, Mike Muir, and guitarist Dean Pleasants who are both fresh from a sold-out tour of Australia last November that celebrated the 40th Anniversary of ST’s debut album.

Mike Muir says of the tour  “Infectious Grooves is gonna bring a super special extra Funk and Punk and everything in between raging gig to Australia . These shows are short notice, but we guarantee they are gonna be full of ass kicking, toe tapping bass slapping, drum attacking, high octane roller coaster grooves!

ST had such a blast with the last tour we jumped at the opportunity to lock some dates in and get back down again to our Aussie friends and family, and make a whole bunch of new ones. So come on back and bring your cousins, nephews, nieces and next door neighbors, and everyone else you can think of. Just warn them…tell them Cyco said, ‘These Freaks are here to party!”

They will be accompanied by none other than founding bassist of Infectious GroovesRobert Trujillo who is making a long-awaited comeback to Australia. Trujillo’s last visit was over a decade ago with his warlord bandmates in on of the biggest bands on the planet—Metallica!

On coming to back to Australia, Rob says “I’m super stoked to venture back to Australia and reconnect with my Aussie surf contingent, as well as celebrate 30 years of Infectious Grooves with a few gigs down under!”

Adding extra groove on guitar will be Dave Kushner, best known for being part of the platinum selling supergroup Velvet Revolver. Dave is also part of the OG Infectious Grooves team having appeared on the track, Punk It Up from the bands debut album.

Anchoring the whole thing down is drummer Jay Weinberg, making his first live appearance after 10 years with the iconic metal band, Slipknot.

Jay comments ‘“It’s an absolute honour to play with the legendary Infectious Grooves on this incredibly exciting Australian tour! Playing with some of my favourite musicians, in one of the most beautiful countries, for some of the greatest fans of heavy music in the world…I couldn’t be more thrilled to get started. See you all soon!”

Formed in 1989 by Mike Muir and Robert Trujillo of the legendary Californian heavy hitters, Suicidal Tendencies, along with long serving ST guitarist Dean Pleasants and drummer Stephen Perkins of Janes Addiction, Infectious Grooves inject a potent mix of funk and groove into their sound which instantly captivated audiences with their cross-genre appeal. With a cheeky touch of goofy humour, they became a force to be reckoned with in the international scene, delivering 4 albums between 1991 and 2000 and forever cementing their iconic status among fans worldwide.

With musical pedigree like that, you’re guaranteed an incredible night of funk-metal mayhem when Infectious Grooves come to blitzkrieg the house.

Get ready to gonna punk it up and funk it up! Be there!
