INTERVIEW: Pete Loran (Solo Artist and Trixter)

I still remember the first time I got to hear Trixter back in 1990 when the first record was released. The song was ‘Only Young Once’ which was as it turned out, a Pete Loran, Steve Brown and producer Bill Wray composition that heralded from earlier sessions. That debut album itself was so cool, a record that a few years earlier would have seen the band far bigger. The follow up ‘Hear!’ was maybe even better. It’s a case of the timing just being wrong. Many years later when the band reformed they put on two of the most memorable shows I’ve ever seen – the first, the Tornado interrupted first show back, at Rocklahoma was a once in a lifetime experience and the set at Rock In America in Oklahoma in 2010 was spellbinding.

Jump forward to 2024, a few great reformation albums later, and Trixter featuring PJ and Pete is out on the road, but there’s no Pete Loran out there. So when Pete put out a new single of his own a few weeks ago ‘Around Again’ we had to catch up!
