After “I Got Burned” became one of the biggest local songs of 2012, two hugely successful national tours and one album together (The Rules Of Attraction), Australia has shown that they love the combination of You Am I’s Tim Rogers and The Bamboos’ Lance Ferguson. Lance and Tim have wanted to revive that magic but were keen for it to take shape in a different form in the studio this time around. And so we arrive at The Ferguson Rogers Process.
The FRP is the one-of-a-kind chemistry that occurs between two of the country’s favourite artists. The musical result of The Ferguson Rogers Process is that Disco discovers that it can get dirty, and Rock finds its groove. It’s glamour meeting grit, it’s the movie star meeting the hustler.
And it’s a deliciously fresh combination of Tim Rogers’ wry lyrics and Lance Ferguson’s innate sense of groove.
The first music released by the FRP is “Live Together”, where Tim Rogers weaves a detailed paean for patience and acceptance within Lance Ferguson’s airy but insistent groove. Listen HERE.
They’ll be launching the single at their debut show, which takes place on August 2nd at The Night Cat in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The show is part of the 30th anniversary of one of Melbourne’s most important music venues, which is only fitting for the reunification of two of that city’s living musical institutions.
