JACK BIILMAN & THE BLACK TIDE Announce Live Melbourne Shows

With the Australian music scene facing its toughest period in recent history, it’s easy to understand why many of the nation’s finest independent artists are laying low and feeling somewhat “imprisoned” in these trying circumstances. Jack Biilmann & The Black Tide must have missed the memo and simply will not lay down. Following their widely successful 2023 Divided Mind album release, the band has taken inspiration from the community’s collective frustration and are back with a heavy ‘rock-n-roll swagger’ arrangement of Johnny Cash’s Folsom Prison Blues.

The band have taken this classic anthem, pulled it apart and given the track a world class blues/rock makeover. Impressively, Jack Biilmann & The Black Tide still pay homage to the iconic melodies, tones and riffs of the original recording, and maintain the outlaw country attitude which made the track famous. Out of respect, the single release date falls on the very day Johnny Cash recorded the original on July 30th, 1955.

The new single comes off the back of accolades and achievements such as 1 million streams in 2023, an endorsement from Fender guitars, a National Live Music Award nomination for Blues & Roots artist of the year, and full calendar of tour dates and festivals around Australia. The hype continues to build around Jack Biilmann & The Black Tide as one of Australia’s premier blues rock outfits.
