After causing quite a stir by announcing Australian metal royalty King Parrot (Melbourne) will headline the upcoming Dark Down South Open Air Fest, Jamart Sound Lounge have now dropped the full line up.
“We wanted to hold on to some surprises and announce a few bands at a time, to build the excitement, but the demand was so huge we just dropped the whole list at once.”
The inaugural Dark Down South features the full gamut of metal genres from classic 80’s to thrash, grindcore and groove metal and everything in between. The festival will showcase some of the very best metal talent in Western Australia, supported by King Parrot, and another of Australia’s favourite thrash bands who recently played at Wacken Open Air fest in Germany – Hidden Intent from Adelaide.
The lineup also includes well known Perth and regional WA metal acts alongside some carefully hand-picked emerging bands:
All This Filth – Perth
Kimura – Perth
Dying Degree – Perth
Dripped – Perth/Donnybrook
Psychonaut – Perth/Bridgetown
Bloodhunt – Perth
DeadHorse – Pinjarra
Decapitated Chooks – Harvey
Innasanatorium – Bunbury
King Zog – Perth
The Subject Zero – Bunbury
Sub Radiant – Perth
“These bands have incredible talent and unique sound, and they work so hard. They deserve this platform to develop their audience and followers. Our youngest act have absolutely killed it at our Mosh In a Sanatorium all ages monthly metal gigs – Bloodhunt are still in their teens, but they’ll blow you away – they’re the most popular band we’ve ever had in 4 years of our all ages. Our WA metalhead community can expect a raw, real and super heavy metal fest at Dark Down South. The location is an unused oval in Kirup, in WA’s South West region which is great for those who like it ‘darker’ – we picked it for a few reasons, but one was because it reminded us of a thriller movie. Perfect for an open air metal festival!”
“This is Australia’s newest heavy metal festival on the circuit. DDS is rapidly gaining traction and a lot of excitement through the metal community. With many festivals closing down recently, this event has never been more needed and in-demand. We’ve done everything we can to keep ticket prices down and cater for a wide demographic, so that as many people can enjoy this festival as possible.”
Dark Down South is an all-weekend family-friendly all ages event with free camping on site. Patrons will be able to buy breakfast, lunch and dinner on site, and there will also be a coffee van and snacks available, so campers don’t even need to worry about bringing cooking equipment or food!
BYO is allowed as there will not be a bar onsite but glass is strictly prohibited for everyone’s safety. There will also be a total fire ban in place. This is a family friendly all ages event so everyone can enjoy it. Kids 12 and under are free, everyone else needs a ticket.
