Jamart Sound Lounge have announced King Parrot (Melbourne) will headline the upcoming Dark Down South Open Air – South West Metal Fest, in Kirup WA from 22nd – 24th November 2024.
King Parrot are one of Australia’s biggest, most popular metal exports. Since exploding into the metal scene with their vicious brand of grindcore thrash, they’ve toured hard and played with the likes of Pantera, Obituary, Exodus, Lamb of God and Soulfly. JSL’s Dark Down South will be the capstone of King Parrot’s Australian Tour.
Jamart Sound Lounge have said the following regarding the announcement:
“King Parrot are the perfect headliner for the inaugural Dark Down South – they are Aussie metal to the (grind) core and set the scene very nicely for the rest of the line up. Our WA metalhead community can expect a raw, real and super heavy metal fest at Dark Down South. The location is an unused oval in Kirup, in WA’s South West region which is great for those who like it ‘darker’ – we picked it for a few reasons, but one was because it reminded us of a thriller movie. Perfect for an open air metal festival!”
“The rest of the lineup will be released in stages over the next three weeks, featuring popular acts from both Perth and regional WA, alongside up and coming artists and one more surprise from outside of WA. All acts have been hand-picked by Jamart Sound Lounge. This is Australia’s newest heavy metal festival on the circuit, and it’s rapidly gaining traction and a lot of excitement through the metal community. With many festivals closing down recently, this event has never been more needed and in-demand. We’ve done everything we can to keep ticket prices down and cater for a wide demographic, so that as many people can enjoy this festival as possible.”
Dark Down South is an all-weekend family-friendly all ages event with free camping on site. Food and drinks are available for purchase on-site, including breakfast, and BYO is allowed (glass prohibited).
Tickets available through Oztix currently at early bird rates for $139 per person for the whole weekend. Get in quick – early bird tix will not last long.
