Formed in 1989 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Superchunk’s catalogue of 12 full-length LPs and 4 singles collections has run the gamut of early punk rock stompers, polished mid-career masterpieces, and lush, adventurous curveballs.
It’s been 30 years since North Carolina indie-rockers Superchunk released their classic fourth album, Foolish. That breakout album, produced by Brian Paulson (Slint, Beck, Wilco), was the band’s first for the label they founded, Merge Records, and the label’s biggest seller of its early years. The album made SPIN’s top 20 albums of the year and featured many of the best-loved songs in their catalogue, including crowd favourites “Water Wings,” “The First Part” and “Driveway To Driveway.”
Their current touring lineup includes Mac McCaughan (guitar & vocals), Jim Wilbur (guitar), Laura King (drums) and Betsy Wright (bass).
Following a performance at Merge’s 35th anniversary festival in July, a Summer tour of Portugal and Spain and a run of US shows throughout October, Superchunk hit Australia for their National tour this December.
