Take it away Stevie…

None of these albums are ranked in any order, just a mix of when I discovered the albums and how much of an impact they made on me.

VAN HALEN – VAN HALEN 1

Got to start with one of the best debut albums of all time, a total game changer when it came out. And one that made a huge impact on me early on! When I first heard «Eruption» I was blown away and mesmerized by the brilliant guitar playing! I’d been already playing guitar for about a year, and it totally inspired me to be a lead guitarist and wanting to become a master of the instrument. And of course not to forget all the amazing songs on this record. I mean every song is just straight up amazing! And the band just executed every song brilliantly. Mind blowing performance by each band member.

Fave songs: I’m The One, On Fire, Feel Your Love Tonight and You Really Got Me. Bonus: Eruption

WHITESNAKE – WHITESNAKE

Continuing on, this album is another one that truly influenced me so much, both musically and on my guitar playing. John Sykes just rips on this entire record, and David Coverdale is just a beast on the vocals. He’s definitely one of my favorite rock singer of all-time! And the songs is just fantastic, no fillers in my opinion. And the album sequence just flows perfectly. Also to get into more of the soundscape, this album has just an insane good sounding guitar mix. I guess Bob Rock did a lot of his magic with it. The rest of the record sounds equally as good too!

Fave songs: Bad Boys, Still Of The Night, Crying In The Rain and You’re Gonna Break My Heart Again.

RATT – OUT OF THE CELLAR

This one of the bands my dad introduced to me early on, and it’s a band that’s been stuck with me since and now is one of my favorite bands ever! I’ve been listening a lot to RATT and really deep-dived into their discography! They have such an amazing sound as a band and definitely one of the more consistent bands of the L.A 80’s scene! Such strong albums all through-out! It had to be «Out Of The Cellar» for my pick of the favorite out of the bunch! It just holds such a special place for me! So many great songs, and of course Warren DeMartini’s great lead guitar work! And not to forget Robbin «King» Crosby too!

Fave songs: Back For More, Round And Round, I’m Insane and In Your Direction

IRON MAIDEN – SOMEWHERE IN TIME

Have to show love to one of my all-time favorite bands! Up The Irons! Maiden is a band that’s been with me from the beginning, when I started to get into Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. And this album is definitely my favorite by them! Just love all of it! The songs, the album cover and just the total atmosphere of it! I really dig the mix of this album too, it’s so Hi-fi and sounds kinda «futuristic» in a sense, as I guess that’s what they we’re going for too! Really nice work with all the synths on here as well! Just an amazing record in general!

Fave songs: Alexander The Great, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Wasted Years and Heaven Can Wait

DOKKEN – UNDER LOCK AND KEY

What to say about this! Just an exceptional album with lots of great songs and an incendiary George Lynch, that just rips amazing leads all over this record! This is also an album that’s stuck with me since I discovered Dokken pretty early on! And this is definitely my favorite! The follow up album is better in terms of production, but this just has so much flare and great energy! Just screams L.A Metal, and with lots of attitude! These guys just delivered on this album, and totally blew me away the first time I listened to this record all the way through!

Fave songs: Till’ The Livin’ End, The Hunter, Lightnin’ Strikes Again and Unchain The Night

JUDAS PRIEST – DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH

Got to throw some Judas Priest in the mix! And what album to choose other than Defenders Of The Faith! In my opinion the ultimate JP studio album! And what I believe is their signature sound!

Love the total vibe of it, and the songs are just amazing from start to finish! Some fillers here and there, but in general just great songs! And it just ooze Heavy Metal all over! Glenn Tipton and KK Downing just rips amazing leads all over too!

Fave songs: Jawbreaker, Freewheel Burning, Love Bites and The Sentinel.

LYNCH MOB – WICKED SENSATION

A bit more George Lynch here! And what an album! The first time I listened to this record, I was instantly hooked! For me It’s an all killer, no filler record! With amazing songwriting and yet again mind-blowing leads! The band’s performance is amazing and everyone just delivers! Another one of those records with just perfect mix, in my opinion!  What more to say other than just a brilliant record throughout! One of my desert island albums for sure, and a record that’s made quite an impact on me, and influenced me in many ways.

Fave songs: River Of Love, She’s Evil but She’s Mine, For a Million Years and Wicked Sensation.

VAIN – NO RESPECT

Ahh, what an album this is!! A more late discovery for me, but when I came across it, I got instantly hooked! Such a fantastic record with so many great songs! Just love everything about it! And the album cover is to me such a legendary cover! Sleazy just the way I like it! The performance on this album is so good, everybody just delivers! The vocals, the solos and the arrangements! Just magnificent!! Another one of my desert island albums, and one I’ll never get tired of playing!

Fave songs: Secrets, Who’s Watching You, Aces and No Respect.

SHOTGUN MESSIAH – SECOND COMING

«Heartbreak boulevard, take you for a ride, mess you up inside» What a cool album this is! And another one that I dicovered later! But got so into this record straight away! Sleazy and such a great Rock ’N Roll vibe to it as well!! Many good songs on here, and what and underrated guitarist, in Harry Cody!! So tasteful playing and every guitar parts is so well thought out and just fits the complete package!! One of my absolute favourites of the more sleazier/rock n’ roll kind of albums!!

Fave songs: Heartbreak Blvd. , Nobody’s Home, SexDrugsRock’NRoll and I Wanna Know.

DON DOKKEN – UP FROM THE ASHES

You’re probably thinking!? Another Dokken record? But this is a whole new band with it’s own sound! Just the same singer of course!! This record just hit me like a bomb! A melodic hard rock masterpiece with an amazing production!! Just everything hits the marks for me!! John Norum and Billy White just rips amazing leads among each other, and with Mikkey Dee handling the drums, and Peter Baltes (Accept) on the bass, you can’t really go wrong! Another one that I’ll take to my desert island. An album I’ll never get tired of playing!

Fave songs: Give It Up, Mirror Mirror, The Hunger and Crash ’N Burn.
